This was a message from an anti-motorized group. Gives you an idea that they are confident in their legislation getting passed. That means we need to work extra hard to ensure motorized users get their voices heard. Write, call, and especially email the same congress people they will. Be nice and be ready with suggestions. There are always opportunities for map revisions.
Wilderness Bills to be Re-Introduced in Congress
Next week, we expect the CORE Act and Colorado Wilderness Act to be back in congress for another (much more promising!) chance at passage. With a shift in the Senate majority, legislators are eager to get these public lands bills to the president's desk and protect over 1 million acres of public lands in Colorado. But the Colorado Wilderness Act still needs a sponsor in the Senate and we've made it easy to urge our delagates to get on board:
Write a letter to congress today!
What's included in these bills?
The Colorado Outdoor Recreation and Economy (CORE) Act brings together a number of previously-introduced bills, including the Continental Divide Recreation, Wilderness, and Camp Hale Legacy Act; the San Juan Mountains Wilderness Act; the Thompson Divide Withdrawal and Protection Act; and the Curecanti National Recreation Area Boundary Establishment Act.
Colorado Wilderness Act protects important landscapes in Colorado for their conservation and recreation values, including protections for Handies Peak and Redcloud Peak, two 14ers with spectacular view of the San Juan Mountains.
