Help washer and dryer front load..steam?

Had the top of the line Maytag front loader mounted on the pedestals.

That machine would wobble so bad, it would end up 3 feet from where it was supposed to be. Sales guy said take it off the pedestals (Why do they sell them if it makes them vibrate so bad). Took it off the pedestal, it did not help.

Made them take it back and got the Whirlpool duet sport and it works great. Have had it for two years now.

If you have your washing machine on a concrete floor, get the pedestals. If your on a main wood floor, kill the pedestals.

We got the LG about 16 months ago, and have had no problems. This is with 4 kids on the farm, we do multiple loads a day, stuff it full and turn it on. Wife likes the steam feature.

we got a kenmore elite washer, I like it so far. I never hear it running, zero wobble and the clothes are clean and fresh.
I also notice there is WAY LESS LENT in my dryer screen, so my clothes gotta be lasting longer.

the dryers are a waste of money, they all have more capacity then the washer so why pay a grand or more so you can have a matching set??

I'm using a $300 dryer and it keeps up to the $1000 washer just fine.

company never sees my washroom so heck with the matching set

I worked at a Rent a center at one time. The Whirl Pool Duets use to break all the time, computer problems, leaking, and the detergent trays break very easy. The detergent tray is very expensive for what it is. its about 120 bucks to replace. If you do buy a set pull that tray right out when you are moving the unit. The washers are super heavy so have buddy there to help you get it in the house. If you are useing a dolly only fork it from the side. If you fork it from the back its too wide to fit through most doors, and if you fork it from the front the door, it will scratch very easily. The duet washers probably weigh as much as 2 std washers. The dryers weigh about the same as std dryer. Don't even think about stacking them. The tops will not support much weight and will collapse and will eventually rub on the drums. In fact don't even lean on the top of it when trying to hook it up. Your body weight will be enough to smash the top in. Setting laundry baskets on the top wont be a problem. They do use very little water and electricity though. The standard low end whirl pools we sold never had issues unless they were abused by someone.

wow, buy a cheaper set and spend the extra cash on your sled!!! i guess i'm too poor to buy a $2,500 washer and dryer... but a new $2,500 dollar skid, well that could be arranged!!!

The front loads still scare me.....So we just bought new Kenmore elite top loads....washer was 679 and found a floor model matching dryer for 219....its gas and we never had a gas dryer before but so far....I like it....30 min and a big load is dry....with hardly and lint. Both are really quiet and if you ever have a wont drain the water problem...just open the lid and look:D

Lots of good info here...tks,

Ended up going with the duets, Wife got them way cheaper than I could get them down to (wonder what she did;)) Sears quoted us a price and the last thing they said is "if you get a better price be sure and come back we will match it" I was thinking wtf??? Give me your best price up front or i go somwhere else. Oh well guess that is the game. BTW, Sears quoted me 499 for a 5 year warranty plan and wife got the appliance store that gave us best deal to do a bumper to bumper 5 year on both units for 199! Just shows how much profit there must be in a warranty. I am no fan of warranties but after reading alot of posts here and looking at these appliances I feel they may be a good investment.

I'm with ya himark. we bought a kenmore top load set last week, sears was pushing the wife hard to buy the $499 warranty. i believe they make their most commision on the warranties. my thoughts were if they are worth a $hit we don't need it, we went with the 199 one. all that electronic crap makes me nervous.
