I called customs and they said you can import a sled if its stock. If the #1 u.s customs,#2 canadian customs or #3 riv {canadian tire]notices any mods, turbos etc. You cannot bring it into canada?

I have heard that they [ mpi] had fuelling issues, years ago. I thought they would of had that corrected w altitude etc. Anyone run one out here in b.c?

i just went through this, the seller brought the sled across and i had to fax a letter to the border saying that he was importing the sled on my behalf, he had to pay all the taxes at the border, then the border gave him a form called "form 1" to give to me, this for has to be e-mailed or faxed to Registrar of Imported Vehicles along with a payment of $206 cdn, they will also need a copy of the current recall status of the sled, after they recieve the recall status i believe the sled will have to be inspected in order to be able to register it (i have not got this far yet) but i have been told that canadian tire is able to do this, but i have had the sled for about a month now with no problems, i dont understand why they said no. hope this helps

is there aftermarket tunnel and vin wasn;t stamped in afterwards? buddy went to bring a race sled up from the states and now it sits on the us side for the past few months there was no vin on the sled since it was for racing and he can;t bring it across.

Aftermarket tunnels can be a problem if there is not a serial number tag on it, you can make one up and rivet it on. You should get an inspection form from the RIV to take to crappy tire. Do you think the dude at crappy tire knows the turbo isn't factory?

I brought one accross near the Ontario boarder 2 years ago, and the process was just like meakin46 posted. Now I did not have mine inpected by canadain tire, but i did speak to the guy that does it, he stated they check all the safety items like the lights, it has to have the all the safety stickers from the factory. I had a buddie that works for a dealership and they import cars from the USA all the time and he got this all done for me. When i was at the border they did not open the hood

You would think that they can pull the serial number off the engine or subframe depending on the make and model.

the numbers arent the same, but they are linked togther, if you have the certificate of ownership it will say the tunnel serial # aswell as the motor serial#, i am in the same boat, (aftermarket tunnel with no serial#) but i called canadian tire and it sounds like as along as i have all the paperwork showing that it is the sled, they will be willing to help me out , sounds like it is a very basic inspection, and they guys at canadian tire arent to concerned as long as i have all the ownership papers

picked up a sled from u.s.drove to u.s customs w original title in hand and a copy sent into u.s customs 72 hrs prior. Border officer came out and varified the vin number. Went back inside and the original title was stamped.Drove to the canadian customs and went inside. They took the stamped title and i filled out paperwork and paid gst and pst. Given back the title and paperwork and homeward bound. Yes it was boosted w mods and they didnt even care.Totally different that what i was told when i called prior.Waiting for my copy of the yamaha recall letter and canadian tire for riv inspection.

it depends on the day , the officer and the mood of the officer. Dont' say anything about the sled being boosted, and you won't have a problem. 9.9 times out of 10 they dont' know anything about a sled. Same thing when you go to crappy tire, dont' breathe a word about it being boosted. what did you end up getting sheldon??
