What's going on with Thin Air Motorsports in Truckee Ca. I know they closed up shop but their website has a phone number to call for any unfinished business. They owe me a $700.00 core charge refund from work done in Janurary and the last time I could talk to anyone I was told it should be sent any day. That was a month and a half ago. I've left messages every few days asking them to call me back but nada!
I hope I don't get the shaft. That money was mine not there's and I feel like they stole it from me. What should I do? Any ideas.

Thin Air crew doesn't seem like the type to short anybody.

The lack of snow in California at the beginning of the season dealt a devastating blow to Thin Air. As you know their doors are shut. Rumor is a smaller performance shop will re-open next season.

Good luck...I am sure things will work out...maybe just not in a timely fashion.

Ditto on what Dizzle had to say, they certianly arent the type of guys that would short anyone.

While Susanville is a bit of a haul, it may be worth your time to take a Saturday cruise down their way and talk with the guys...i'm sure they'll make things right.

Hey Dean

<O:p</O:pThere was another post about Thin Air over under riding areas California/Nevada section. The last post was about a month ago saying that their doors were open and from the sounds of it they were liquidation what was left of their inventory. The sleds were all gone. They may be done with liquidating what was left and are now closed to reorganization. If I was closer I will say I would run over and ask for you but it’s a 30 mile drive for me. Which of vourse is not the end of the world for me but not sure it would do any good either
Sounds like you are headed this direction anyway as I saw a post question about gold lake area of yours. I rode Yuba pass 2 weeks ago right after the last big dump and there was more snow then I thought there would be but it was really heavy and wet. I am sure up high there is still a good amount of snow. It has been really warm the last two weeks and I know they just moved the trail head at little T<ST1:pruckee </ST1:psummit quite a ways in from the highway. good luck with this<O:p</O:p

We were thinking about riding gold lakes but decided to go to Mt Shasta instead. It would be nice of them to at least call back. I would think if there was someone there they would call back.

Finnaly got a call

Just got off the phone with the owner of Thin Air in Truckee Ca. He's had a rough time of it but promised to make it right even if it takes a while. Sounds like he's trying to do what's right for everyone.

That is good to hear that you were able to get in contact with the owner. Not surprising to hear that he will try to make it right though. That is exactly why they have the reputation around reno/tahoe that they do. It is such a shame that things turned out the way they did for them. :face-icon-small-coo

It is too bad they had to close up, but $700 is a very tough pill to swallow for most and I don't think you should have to wait since he OWES YOU. He should try to figure out a way to make it good for you sooner than later.

Absolutely not trying to stir anything. Just saying that it should happen sooner than later. I know that the owner is having a rough go, but to be in the other fellow's shoes, which I have been is tough also. I know some guys on here wipe their butts with $700 (or at least they say they do) but I believe that most fellow riders do not. $700 is a good chunk of change towards a repair, mod, upgrade and to have to wait stinks.

I mean no ill will towards the owner whatsoever.
