HELP! sled will not stay running

I have an 09 M8 with an OVS turbo. I have put on 600 trouble free miles. Went on my last ride with no problems. Went to ride again 2 days later and the engine would not stay running. Pull the rope and the engine fires and then imediately dies. Occasionally it backfires as you pull the rope. Took the sled to the shop and it fired right up. Decided to put dielectric grease on all the conectors. Went to start it again and same problem. I have found the reason the engine is dying is due to no more spark. Unpluged the key switch and handlebare wiring harness and still have the same problem. I have tested all the sensors and stator minus the TPS. I did unplug the TPS because I know they will still run without it being hooked up. Same problem. I have a donor sled to start swaping parts tomorrow. Has anyone ran into this? I will let everyone know what I find.

Also check grounds. Main ground is located on the back side of the steering hoop bolts exhaust side by the coolant line. Fuel controller ground should also be checked.

Did you unplug the tailight connector, speed sensor and the back up beeper? These can also cause a direct short to ground. Sounds like an electrical problem.

Well good and bad news. The sled runs now but I don't know why. I swaped my ecu into another sled and it worked, swaped it back into mine and mine ran. I wiggled all the conections and can't get it to die. I am nervous to go on a ride with it for fear it will not stay running again. I can't find the gounds spoke of next to the coolant bottle. The wiring schematic only shows the ground on the motor. I checked the injector wires. If it dies agian I will try disconnecting the speedo sensor, reverse buzzer and taillight. Thanks for the responses. If I figure it out I will let you know.

The ground by the coolant bottle is attached to one of the bolts that holds the steering support hoop on. It is tough to see, but it is there. The bolt thread into a pressed in fitting, then the ground is attached with another nut on the end.

Had the same problem!

I just completed building an 09' HCR w/ cutler turbo. I ran the sled to about 250 miles, then one day it started doing the same thing your describing. After tearing everything apart looking for loose wires, ect, what I found happened was with the additional power demand from the turbo/pump/gauges ect, the ECU had a weak spot in it and part of it fried. My sled would start but then die and eventually would'nt start at all. Also, the first thing I noticed when I started looking into all of this was that I did'nt have any spark. Sometimes when I'd pull and pull it would fire, come to find out this was because the ECU would sometimes make the proper contact and allow current to flow throught it. Take your ECU out of your sled and try it in another, I'll bet ya that's what it is? Just make sure you try your ECU in a sled that has the exact same box "green/orange square" otherwise it'll probably fire up, I tried mine in a sled that had a "triangle" and it worked, but once we tried it in a sled of the exact same, it did'nt work at all.
