DJ how bad is the track? www.rubbertrackrepair.com. My boy in Buena Vista. Suppose to work great
Thanks a lot again Paul..I know that wasn't the plan for the weekend...but...definately glad its out now after hearing about what happen to that other guys sled that got left out there..
Someone stole his skis, aftermarket pipe n such off his 'broke/stuck' sled... Some really lame stuff there... Goes to prove even our own kind (snowmobilers) are just as worthless as anyone else out there.
Hell, I didn't even wanna leave my sled sitting in the Dumont lot for more than 30 mins after we dropped it off there...
Was an experience if nothing else, not one I wanna go through again any time soon...but...an experience...
I'll get some of the BETTER pics n vid posted from the fun we had before the incident...I didn't even bring the cam on day 2, for obvious reasons, Paul got those covered tho.
Where's that thread? First I ever heard of it!
Sorry about the motor PJ, that much pow puts them to the test quick! We ran into Catlady and crew and they passed on that story about the stripped sled.
Your track should be safe down in that treewell i'd think. At least it's just off the trail now and easy to find. I've got the GPS coords when we, or you go get it out of there. Next time i'm up i'll get it if you don't first. I had no idea you could repair a halved track or we should have hauled it in too, just didn't seem too important at the time.
yeah, at the time i really was in a dont give a f mood anyway...
i'll see what i can find out about repair first...but i think theres a bit more dmg than a "slight rip" haha
What was the deal w/ the engine? More deto? Bad fuel? too high compression? lean?
I felt for mine a few times when running WOT for minutes run after run Moving at about 5 mph...at WOT is sorta amusing... lol
I made a plastic skid runner just for this type of situation. Mainly I was thinking of a track that would not turn when I built it. I connects to the track or in your case could be connected to the drive shaft and then goes back around the back of the track. In your case it could be wrapped around the back axle shaft. It is the same material as hyfax if made from so it slides on the snow very easy. It is probably about 16" - 18" wide and about 8 ft or so long. I have carried it for about 5 years now and used it only one time. If you would like to borrow it, I would loan it to you.

somewhere i saw somebody tie a track back together with some parachute cord or something like that, and ride it home....mabye that and a few zip ties would hold it together???hmmm
i wonder how well it would work in the powder....mabye good enough to get you up a hill or so...
just something to think about
glad you guys got it out ok....
later
