Help...rebuild estimate

Evidently my 2007 turboed Apex has some problems. Blown head gasket, scored cylinders, wrecked pistons. Anybody got an estimate on how much a dealer should charge. Block, if salvageable, needs to be sent to Millinium to be nicklesealed, needs new pistons, probably other small parts, and then put back together.....Crap! Least there's no snow...YET!
Thanks,

My dad owns an engine machine shop in Sandpoint Idaho he could rebiuld it he has done the nytro engines. I don't think it would cost as much as a crashed sled. Give him a call it's M&S Engine Works 1(208)263-9081

Reason for the Damage? Contact Blurred Vision on Totally Yamaha he has a complete apex motor for sale. 1500 us. is what he is asking. That will be way cheaper than rebuilding the one you have if the one he has is in good shape.

How did it happen...good question, but I don't think the boost is strictly to blame. It's the BD 25 turbo, only running 12psi. The final blow was trying to pull a doo out of a canyon with spring snow. That's when the head gasket went. There is a possiblity that the damage started before that due to a bad Innovative box that was allowing detonation from poor fuel/air management, even at 6# boost. The evidence was the top of the piston having marks from a longer period of detonation. There is also the issue of the spark plug gap, ran like crap till I pulled them and narrowed the gap. That made a world of diffence in performance but may have been too late at that point. If I was more of a mechanic with lots of inner engine experiance I could probably give a better answer. I'm already into it with the shop for the rebuild so I'm kind of stuck as far as picking up a used engine...sucks to be me. Just hope it gets done before the snow comes.

Oh yeah, the fuel. Always ran good fuel with a 50/50 mix of Premium and 110. I really did try to stay in the safe zone.

You mite want to learn all you can about the E10 that Oregon and most of Washington has gon to it is not turbo friendly. From what I have come across its not about the octane its about the full delivery you have to run a program that is set up for the ethanol mixed fuel or it will run to lean. there was allot of this fuel on the market this spring and not every one was posting it on there pumps I don't think the gas stations even new they were getting it until people started having some problems. look into this and learn as much as you can so you dont have problems

Thanks,

Ballpark:

Engine out of sled and broken down ~$150
Block repaired by Millenium ~$450
Engine build ~$500
Gaskets ~$100
JE pistons ~$550
Engine/turbo re-installation ~$300

Somewhere around $2K to get you back on the snow with a better motor than you had.

What about E10 fuel? I have heard issues with it on 2-stroke motors, what about the 4-strokes? I recently purchased a stock 2006 Apex and want to make sure it lasts awhile.
