You are better off not having one. You don't have the control or leverage with one. Way better off keeping your hands on the handle bars.
Name a Current Mtn sled that doesn't have one. I can't say I use mine more than 20 percent of the time, but I'm glad it's there when I need it. Wouldn't know about getting it in the ribs, I probably ride as hard as the next guy and haven't hit it yet. Your choice, find somebody with one and try using it.
have one, but only use it for low speed leverage..., in the V'ed out, heavily treed creek bottom, neck scrapin, hood scrachin, pine needle spittin terrain.
wow i use mine all the time, theres a reason why mt. sleds come with one. guess if you don't need a mt. bar you wouldn't need a lefty eitheri'm a very aggresive rider and couldn't imagine not having one!!! i guess it all depends on your riding style, long sidehills are much easier when you can get sooooo much better leverage hanging farther off the side... how about when your right side is tipped down toward a tree, with a lefty and a mt. bar you can get both hands on the left side of the bars, rock the sled flat and take off without putting more of your weight to the right side to have to grab the throttle or bars. priceless!
