I am south of Portland, OR. With I-5 closed and all the roads in the surrounding area closed or washed out around Chehalis I would appreciate input on a route home to Maple Valley.

It looks like the only option (presuming Snoq. Pass open's) is head east on I-84 then head north through Goldendale on Hwy 97 eventually hitting I-90 then head west home.
It looks like I-5 could be closed until Monday. If Snoq. Pass is closed I'll stay at my cabin in Cle Elum.

Yeah man, that is about the only way I would know of. I do not know any of the smaller road around down south that would be safe for sure...

BTW- That sucks...

Sounds like a good route to me

With Stevens just opening you'll have to run up 97 through wenatchee (takes about 3.5 - 5 hrs depending on traffic from portland to wenatchee) then over stevens. Good luck man.

I would becareful between Raymond and Montessano that Chehalis River has been know to due some damage on that section of road.

Be Safe

Blewett will be closed for awhile as ruby creek has washed out hwy...so you will have to go thru Ellensburg to Quincy to wenatchee to everett to maple valley...Map quest says 8.5 hrs and 470 miles:(

Montessano is closed in both directions earlier today--not good.

You can always go all the way up the coast--out to the Astoria Bridge--cross and head to Raymond--to Aberdeen--up 101 to forks and PA and then catch the ferry in Kingston and --well you should know the wy from there.
Good Luck Lee.

You could go up the gorge and take the split off to yakima and get ready to catch the pass whe it opens--heck--call Ice Cap and stay at his place untill the pass opens--I do not know if you can get to your cbain over there--I think the road may be washed out headed towards Blewitt in the Teanaway.

H20SKE...

Thanks for the options, I am still leaning towards the Yakima route and taking a chance Snoq opening up.
Ice, thanks for the offer. I'll bring beer.
I looked into flts today, booked solid.

Can you get to Morton? If so go east from I5 to Morton and take left to Hiway 7 I think it is follow it north through Elbe and so on up to Parkland. I take this route coming north when the traffic is bad at Chehalis. It takes a little but beats the stop and go thing. Check with the state patrol first though. Earlier there was flooding at Orting.

They are now saying that Snoqualmie may open tomorrow afternoon

the road report up to the Snoqualmie Pass is that they had significant erosion at the summit that Graveler is delivering concrete to right now... Plus there are several crews along the way up working on the road.... He drove up and back down on the east bound lanes....
