Help me decide on skis for the new pro

Im torn between what ive liked on my previous sleds (SLP Powder Pros) and Mods Skis.
Heard good things about the Mods, but know ive liked the pros. Im torn.
What are you guys running, and what is working the best on the pro chassis?
Thanks for the help.

Stock skis are hands down the best for the pro, tried powder pro....back to grippers.

Humm, interesting.
The 3 times i rode a pro in the past 2 seasons, i thought the grippers were ok at best in the deep and pushed like mad in the corners going down the trail to and from off trail areas.
Maybe they weren't setup correctly i guess.

I'd check all your suspension setup before switching skis. Really feel the grippers are the best available choice. Other than for appearance purposes.

If you have a 144" SBA then you'll probably be able to get the Grippers to your liking by setting up the suspension and adding some longer carbides.

However, if it's a 155"-163" Pro-RMK then the Grippers just aren't going to cut it. They just push like mad in light powder.
You turn the bars/skis and the sled keeps going straight pretty much. It was driving me nuts, so I went with C&A MTX's.
Couldn't be happier with the choice.

I had Powder-Pros before on my M-Sled and found them way too aggressive and hard to turn (effort wise) due the really deep center keel.

After about 3-4 different sets of C&A's (Razors, and XTX's) on other sleds, I figured the new MTX's would be perfect on the Pro. They are.

8.5" wide, with a shorter and shallower keel than their race skis like the Razor.
Resulted in much more floatation up front which yielded a more "balanced" feel of the sled, front to back in deep snow as well as that now when you turn the bars the sled changes direction too!

In powder snow the increased effort in the steering is very minimal, barely noticeable, though in crusted over or harder/set-up snow they do cause more feedback through the bars.
All worth it though.

My best friend has a 12-Assault just like mine but he still had the Grippers. After telling me how much he liked them and that he wouldn't be buying aftermarket skis for his, he took mine for a 5 min ride.
The following week he bought a set of MTX's...

Got powder pros on my assaults and love them! Always will ride with those great skis

X2 for C&A MTX....love them on my Pro-rmk and SBA. I also have tried the RZRs and XTXs on various machines and hands down the MTX has been my favorite. I can't speak to any other after market skis....

MODS.. Talk to Lance out there in WI, makes stocker feel like a cheap PP, and most who say stock gripper is best have not rode a pro with MODS.

where can i find more info on the mods?

i had a set of xtx on my bcx, and they are a very agressive ski even with the 1" keel. what is the keel size on the mtx?

I don't remember off hand, but I know it's shallower and shorter in length than the XTX. I had the XTX'x on my 136" IQR and they were far less aggressive than the Razors I had on my 121" IQR.
But I think the MTX's are perfect on the 155" Assault/RMK.

They have illustrations of the keel designs and all the info on their website.

The MTX keel height is 1", the same as the XTX. However, there is a big difference in keel design and supporting keels on the outer edge. The MTX is rounded and the XTX is square. I also think there is a difference in length of the supporting keels on the edge on the MTX.....way different feel/steering effort than the XTX.

that is probably the ugliest ski i have ever seen. not that it matters if it works, but wow. so what is so great about them? i have never seen anyone with them and probably won't out here on the east coast.
