Help me decide??????? DRAGON OR M8

Finally got the money, but now the decision of a life time. I'm looking at a few Dragon 800'S and a couple of M8'S. I got a ton of seat time on the M8 last year and I loved the sled. I have never ridden the Dragon but I like the WE shocks. I am looking to spend around $6000. I Did find a Dragon 700 with a BD pump gas turbo for $6500.

I have no seat time on the m8, but if you like it I would go with that. The only dragon I would buy would be a 700. Too much risk on the 8's. And the WE air shocks suck IMO.

I loved my '09 M8 and sorry that I had to sell it...

The '09 can be had for what your looking to pay and is reported to be the stronger platform for a turbo should you one day want to add it. The sled is about 22 lbs lighter then the '08 but has a few less horsepower then the '10 model.. The crank is supposed to be stronger than the '10's and more able to take the boost..

Good luck hunting for a new sled.

I have found a few TD7's all 4 have BD pump gas turbos on them, Im kind of leaning towards this. Anyone riding one of these that can give me some input on it?

If you like the M8 I would go with that. Dragon 800s have too many crank problems the 700 were a go for ever engine.
Oh and pray for snow.

If you liked the m8 I would stay with that. I had 4 different raw IQ chassis sleds. 07 600, 08 dragon 800, 09 700, and 10 dragon 800. Love that chassis! So easy to ride, throw around. Out of those sleds I liked the 09 700 the best! 08 dragon 800 had so many problems! 2010 dragon was awesome. Never had any problems. I wouldn't get an older turbo sled unless you know how to work on them. Now if we could only get some snow!!!!

Dragon's are too risky. I'd go with the M8 anyday over the dragon......but then again, I've had a lot more seat time on my M8 and may be biased. :)

You need to talk with Drape before buying a turbo...
What ever you end up buying, make sure it can get it self back to the truck... My pro was made for playing in the deep pow, not pulling sleds to the parking lot :face-icon-small-win
To bad you missed out on Chief's sled. Looks pretty clean and went for less than I would have expected.

Yeah just don't get hurt this year! I'll make sure you teach your pro how to fly this year. I think my decision has moved to the M8.

Another vote for the M8. I had right around 2200 miles on my 08 M8 last year alone, and the only problem I had was a roller in the clutch go bad which took a ramp with it. But Cat's clutches are not rebuildable, so I had to buy a new primary. But other than that, not a issue, and they were 2200 HARD miles. The only reason I can see buying a 800 Dragon would be if it still had warranty, and you didn't mind waiting for pistions when, not if it, goes down. I know a couple guys who missed at least a month of riding waiting for pistons. The Walker Evans Air shocks are garbage anyway. The 700 Dragons however, are sweet sleds. I know a couple guys that have them and they flat out rip! Not too much behind the 800, without all the 800 problems. If you do go with an M8, get the newest you can afford. Like said above, the 09s are quite a bit lighter, and the 10s have more power. The 09+ also have electronic reverse and a narrower end of the tunnel and no outer rear bogie wheels (easier to side hill). The 07/08 have mechanical reverse and thats where a majority of problems (if they had problems) occured. I hope this helps! I am not at all biased, I loved my M8, but I just bought me a new Polaris after I told myself I would never own another one with their POS motors, I just hope this decision dosen't bite me in the rear end!

D700's are bulletproof! I am a Polaris guy through and through, but I have to admit, I don't think I'd buy a D800. It's a risk. Some guys haven't had issues and some have. The 700's however are flawless. I bought mind brand new in 08' and it's ran like a gem - 1400 miles. PM sent.

Save your money and buy next year don't think it's going to snow much this year:face-icon-small-win turboed 700s are fun to ride, turboed m8s are even funner:face-icon-small-hap

mmmmmm Remember when it used to snow???

I'd say go with the M8. Great sled, affordable, awesome w/ a turbo. However if something motivates you to get the dragon, it wouldn't be a bad idea to pick up a spare voltage regulator. That's not a dig. I'm being serious.

I had 2 08 dragons. Both are still going strong neither were EVER UPDATED!! I sold mine to get a pro and sold my wife's cuz my daughter liked to ride it RIGHT at mid throttle!! So now I have a 600 she can do that with. The dragon is the next best thing to a Pro IMO:)

And ya the air shocks blow. I have 2 sets collecting dust in the garage:(

Just being honest so take it for real. With your history buy a good stock sled that will provide enjoyment week after week. Don't buy a D8. D7 or M8 (09/10) for sure. Add Intake, Can, Vents and clutching and enjoy.

For me personally: Dragon chassis with AC power plant would do the trick.:face-icon-small-win

If you find a great deal on a dragon 800, put a "fix Kit'' in it from MtnTk/ PMS polaris in Ashton idaho. There is a huge thread on it's effectiveness in the IQ section. I love my dragon, but I did have a top end failure @ 1100 miles with it. I don't know of any dragons with crank problems.

I'm at 1900 miles with my Fix Kit and the sled runs better than it ever did from the factory.
