Help me choose-mtn sled

Looking to snowcheck a new sled. Just can't make up my mind between the m8 and the Summits. Have been an arctic cat man for many years but really like the looks and good things from my buddies and others about the summits. Rode one buddies summit and really liked it but just in fields and such not in no fresh powder. I am only 5'8 145 lbs and like how I can throw the cats around so assuming I could do the same with the summit. Like to jump and side hill. So help me decide.

The M is way way easier to throw around, even most of the ski doo guys will say this. The ski doo takes a lot more effort to get it to do what you want, now with the 160hp 800 H.O. the M will be the sled with more power since it was very close before, but the summit had the edge. For your body size you will definetly like the M more than the summit for the easy sidehilling and powder handling characteristics. The power claw track is amazing too! If you do decide to go with the summit that is a great sled too.

I'm in the same arena. I have an 08" M8. SLP Y,Pipe and can. Power Claw Track. Love the sled. Never towed out.(Crap, now that I said that.....)

I like the Doo's. My next sled(?)

Ski-doos handle very well on the trails and can out climb any sled out there but they dont carve or sidehill very well at all. I was looking at trading my m8 for a ski-doo just because the ski-doos where always climbing higher and going through the deep easier but I drove them several times and the xps dont want to pull over like a arctic cat. To me the cats are much more fun to drive.

M8 but both are great sleds!

XP takes some getting used to like days from what I have seen.

Get a M8. I havnt ever rode any xps or anything so i dont know how they jump but the m's jump nice and you can actully throw them were you want to with out to much effort. Just my .02

What do you mainly do?

I've ridin' an XP and seen M's strutt their feathers and both are impressive. I was amazed with the XP, I felt right at home on it, feels like an 2005-2002 Polaris EDGE that is really light, powerful and manuverable (did I spell that right). I ride an edge or a gen 2 and the XP blew me away. A guy I ride with got an 06' M7 162", rode it for 2 years, got an XP 154", rode it for 2 years, and is now selling the XP to get an M8. He likes the M's manuverability (did I spell that right), but hates the cap melting. He liked the XP's light wieght, power and most every thing in general. Twas it me, I would probably test both of them before I decide. This guy test rode the 09' M8 and has decided to sell the XP in the spring, so if the 09' M8 was better for him than the XP was, the 2010 M should suit him better. He is a taller than you, personally I'd get the M. The M is proven, the XP is a best seller, take your pick, you'll be happy with what you get. Being a Polaris man myself, I'd like to say "get a 2010 Dragon" but I don't know enough, Nytros and Apex with no boost are TERRIBLE (this I know, saw and expierenced).

Don't overthink it. Which one makes you get all rev'ed up to ride? It won't matter in a month from now. Just pick the one that gets you excited to ride and pull the rope:beer;

I have no experience with the M sleds. I would really like to get aboard one and see how they handle. That being said, there have been a lot of posts about the xp not handling well and not sidehilling well. Many of these posts are coming from non xp riders. My xp sidehills rather easily and I can carve as easily as I could on my rev. I can climb through the trees full throttle and not worry that I might not be able to carve between trees quick enough. It IS very easy to sidehill and carve. When I initially started riding my xp it was not so simple. I had to make two simple changes to get my xp to carve and sidehill easily. Most xp's come with the handlebar risers straight up. I tilted mine back about 20 degrees and removed the swaybar and stiffened the preload on the two front shocks. It took less than 10 minutes to do. Now, I also think if I were to jump on an M series that I would struggle getting it to carve or sidehill because I have absolutely no experience on one and would need to give it a little time to get used to it. Same with the dragon. I am not about to tell you (someone) that M sleds and dragons don't handle well without first spending enough time on one to KNOW how they handle. I can say my xp flat out rips. Carving uphill or downhill, through the trees or sidehilling. It is a blast. Good luck on your decision.

Which sled to purchase

I ride a XP now and really enjoy it but, most people I run across find the Acrtic Cats easier to handle, mainly laying it over for a donut, sharpe direction turns or side hilling.

I have no trouble doing the these on the XP, some people do, I guess it's a learning curve or rider style, they are both great sleds. As I ride with 3 other guys with Artic Cats we all enjoy our selves, go the same places and all the sleds work.

Easy choice

Both sleds will work good. Pick your best dealer. I don't care what you ride, set up and service is important.
