Help!! - Im sitting and spinning!!

I did my first successful mod this year (so far). I have an '02 edge xc 800 with around 5000 miles on it. I put an SLP pipe, VF3R, SLP High Air Flow Kit, polaris silver blue secondary spring, 68g dalton proweights, and an SLP blue yellow primary spring. 600 main jets (tried 580's, but the spark plugs were a little white), needle at stock position. Koso Egt guage (I run around 1150-1200 at mid range and 1100-1150 WOT). Original gearing. The sled has the original 1" track with 144 studs in it down the middle. I run this sled at 500 - 1600 elevation.

I have finally got the sled tuned in the low range where I think its got some really nice power, but all I end up doing is breaking the track loose. Any suggestions on a better set up?? I am planning on running a 1.25" track next year, but was wondering if there is something else I can do in the interum.

Also, I have a Holtzman Tempa-flo from a previous build that didnt work out. Is it worth my time to install this? I just didnt have any luck with it on my last mod job.

Thanks for your help!

Ethan

new track, even with a 1.25 track your going to spin it, shoot i think i have a hard time with my 159 2" series IV, i can only imagine how bad it is for you

Put the tempra flow on for sure they work great! Won't help traction though.
Put a longer track for sure, with bigger lugs. What kind of riding do you do?
Trail, mountain or ditch banging?

I have a 121" track, but I do all trail riding between 500 and 2000 FT. I do have 600 mains in it. I started out with 580's, which is what SLP recommended, but the spark plugs had a little white residue on them. I made the jump to 600's when I saw that. EGT wise, the sled at WOT runs around 1150. mid range is 1200 and low end is probable 800-1000.

I agree with ullose272. I have a 700 141 with 2in lugs that still breaks free. My dad has a stock 500 xc sp that can't do anything but spin when punched. Thought about studs and a taller lug...maybe shoot out to 136 also (pretty nice balance then actually)? That would be a pretty nice sled then (amazing how many stutter bumps you skip over when you get a longer track). Good luck!

You have too much HP for the track. Take the 800 out and put in a 340, then you won't have that track spinning so soon. Or drop some ball bearings into one spark plug hole to toast one piston and cylinder. Or you can SELL IT, as is and get a long track with some bite into the snow. No matter what sled you have, the track will spin. The length of track, depth of tread and type of track, determines how quickly the track breaks loose.

Bolth of my edges spin the track so does my 2010 turbo dragon with a 163 you will never get away from spinning the track thats just the way it is

I looked at SLP and they have rail extensions for my sled, but they dont work with an M-10 suspension. Does anyone know of a rail extension kit I can buy that will work with an M-10 suspension???

Second question. Which would be more of an improvement, going to a 136" track and staying with 1.25" track or staying with the 121" and going with a 1.5" track. I am riding the trails of michigan, so we dont get a ton of snow. Maybe 2 - 3" of snow on the trails all year. The trails are not long shots and are very twisty and turny with a lot of bumpy trails by the afternoon.

I would go to the 136" and also run center studs. The 136 isn't really too long to trail ride and also helps bridge all the bumps.

I'd go 136"x1.25" and stud it down the center for all your trail riding. Gear it down as well to something like 23/42 for all the extra weight you are trying to spin. Good luck with it. Tracksusa for the extensions and track or shop around for a good deal take off.

IDk.. But i like when i have enough power to spin the track!...

Can turn sharper! When in the trees in the tight!
