HELP! Flat lander going west

All depends on the amount of fresh snow and what you want to do. If its all set up yes if it snows 2+ ft day before you get there NO unless you like the trails.

My bro rides a stock 09 crossfire with 1.5" track out west a few times a year and does very well. Over the last couple years we have hit our trips very well with bumper deep or better and he never had a problem. A lot has to do with the rider, having a longer deeper track just makes it easier.

I'm taking my 11 sno pro 141 by 1.5 out for the first time this next week. Everyone I have talked to said i will do just fine. It will go more places then I want to go, they say. LOL. Had a friend just get back from the black hills last week and he has same sled as I do and went any were he wanted to go. They had over bumper snow the whole time there. Take it and have fun.:high5:

If I could throw a freindly note on this subject as being a west rider my whole life. It would be learn throttle control. You gotta remember when to and not to get on it. I remember back in the day, we had Yamaha ET 250s' with nothing more than a dimple for a track and we had to pin it all the time but with these big paddle tracks, be careful when you pin it. We used to struggle in the deep with the XLTs' with 1.5 paddles riding double. But its doable. Actually thats when the fun begins. It'll make you learn to ride west style.

Have fun and holler if ya need help.

First time I went out to Dubois 3 years ago I had an 08 Crossfire 6. I got along very well and that was the old 136 x 1.25. I will say that it was a lower snow year. You will find you can go most places a mountain sled can go but they can go through it a little slower and more under control where you need more speed and momentum. The weight of a four stroke would concern me some although the new Cats are much lighter than in the past and you should have plenty of power where my old CF 6 was kind of doggy out west.
I'm excited to take my 18 yr old son along this year and we were debating about making my new XF 800 SP in to a High Country for him to ride but instead picked up a sweet little 09 600 RMK 155 instead.
It all depends on the group you ride with what you need for a sled. Our leader is a savy mountian guy but not crazy. It kind of puts a damper on things if one sled in the bunch can't do what the others can. But don't let me scare you, dive in and enjoy! Going out west get in your blood and pretty soon you will be figuring out a way to have a trail sled and a mountian sled.

As a flat lander myself I have to ask, where west are you talking about?

It all depends on snow conditions and what kind of riding you and your riding party are expecting to do. I am not a cat guy but it sounds like you have a 1.5"x141"? For where I like to ride it would be a no for me. Others smarter than me will chime in. Good luck!!:bump:

Track

Last week dug out alot of long tracks in snowies. Some of them stuck on the trail. Thats alot of snow. Bring the best you have, you will have more fun.
