Help! First ride on 2010 M1000, RPM's low

So got the chance to get my new 2010 M1000 out for a little break in yesterday. Sled feels great, but RPM's seemed low. Was breaking in the engine, so no long throttle pulls, but the couple of times i pinned it only saw 7000-7140 RPM's. Obviously seemed really low to me, any ideas on where to begin? Sorry, sled is mainly all stock under the hood except for a MBRP can. Stock weights, running 9-11k. Thanks...

rpm

The 1000 should rev at 7300. After a few rides if it still is only 7100 you might have to run lighter weights.

M1000

remove the 0627-060 belt and install the cheaper 0627-046, It should put you up were you need to be, the "060" is softer and stickier belt than the "046".

keep the rapports coming in... fuelconsuption, rich och lean conditions etc.. this there any news on the 2010 m1000?

lm thinking of buying one.. the bigger cc the better :D

Check the weights I think they came with 80gm weights . @9-11 ' I think you might need 79grm weights . See what you have in it and talk to the dealer you bought it from . If that is what you have in it I would put the stock can back on and then try it . Hope this helps let us know what happens .

Thanks for the info guys! Got in about 40 more miles today. Seemed to be pulling a little harder, saw 7200-7280 RPM's on a couple short pulls. So far the sled feels great. Front end feels a little heavier than my 2009 M8, but the M1000's got some torgue! Gonna see how she rides the next few times out before i make any adjustments, but so far so good!

stock calibration

I wouldn't worry about peak rpm until you have run a couple of tanks through it. Stock calibration is for 6-9k so you may need lighter weights.

on top the shock tower under the hood it tells you the proper clutching for elevation, also says it should run between 7200-7400. Get a shift assist also, makes the clutching more responsive. If you think clutching should slip get the 046 belt, it raises rpm because of slippage. only a quick fix if you don't have time to clutch. the 060 belt works far better on the 09 and last 3x as long. run good 87 octane fuel, at that elevation you can loose power from 91 octane. I preferred 89 octane, seemed to run the best but road mostly 6-8500 ft. I think your clutching will be fine once you break it in.

The gen II help on the older m1000 the 09 and newer they are over kill. The front end is not that much heavier. It will still pull the skis 2 ft of the snow any time.
