I have read a couple of threads to see what everyone is running. I'm wondering if thers anyone out there that is running a setup close to what I have and what success they are haveing.
Heres what I got.
08 m1000
162" powder claw
m8 gears
speedwerx porting
speedwerx pipe and tuneldump can
Rkt head
Rkt clutch kit
Timbersled intake
lite wieght parts
boss seat
mesh hood
any help would be great. runs awesome. Think I'm off on clutching

He is running an RKT 38/34 helix with a lime green torsional spring in the middle hole. It seems like this thing should pull harder. What do you guys think about a 44/36 helix? What torsional spring would be a good one? Any reccomendations would be helpful. Thanks.

my 09 1000 is clutched very well.....but i'm significantly different from yours...my engine is very close to yours, but i've found that stock gears load the 1000 engine much better than the m-8 gears....the 1000 likes to be loaded and the torque used, not spun like a 7/800....it looks like you are also using more shallow helix, also not good for the 1000....i've used the rkt clutch, but my present set-up, which is fairly close to a stock set-up is not only cheaper, but way better....and i compare with other good 1000s frequently....if you think you may want to go my way, pm me...:D

your finish rate on the helix should be at least 38 with the power that thing should build. Mine is only piped with air box and I run a 44/36 at 10,000ft and think I could pull more.

Looks like you have added a few things since I rode with you last. What kind of max rpm are you hitting? Do you have a good tach? Did you ever get the adjustable weights? What belt are you running? 046 I hope.

If it was mine I would start around a straight 40. I do not like the progressive helixes on the DD secondary. These motors have a broad linear torque curve and work well with the straight helixes. On the spring I would start with a sno-pro green or equivilent (set in the Middle) , stock primary spring (to start) and adjustable weights (75-85) and fine tune. Target rpms probably around 7400-7600 Im guessing with the Speedwerx pipe

If you dont have a good tach with playback you are wasting your time.I spent the first season on mine trying to clutch by feel and using the stock tach. Big mistake, when I got my Digitron on there was a 300 rpm variance. I also run a speed sensor with playback on the driveshaft so when I make clutch changes I can verify rpm and trackspeed. I recommend it, its way better than someones opinion including mine

If you want, get my # from Mark. Id like to talk to you more about it. Kris

I Have a 2007 M1000 with the three tower clutch. I ride at 10,000ft Im running stock spring in primary with 76 gram weights and a bmp torshanial kit with a 40/36 helix and a orange spring in the middle. Im getting about 7700 rpms. It pulls good but im thinking it should pull harder! Im thinking maybe a 44/38? Here is a list of my mods

Bmp cylinder porting
Bmp h/c head
costom case porting
Bmp y-pipe, Pipe
Volk sno pro intake
Mbrb can
bdx valve deletes
bdx oil delete
bdx 56/64
boondocker box
boss seat
09 rear tunnel and cooler with vanamburge bumber kit

Thanks for all the input guys!

Strickly-I weigh 210 w/o gear, Mostly 5-8 k, Both boondocking and wide open pulls.

Slyrydr-Lets keep it on the forum so we can keep notes and compare and learn from others experiances I'm not dead set on the rkt but I have heard alot of people saying that they work well.

wyo boy- I have a straight 38 that I brorrowed to test.

Rkmtn- I have seen 7800 on my recall on the boony box but don't have a digitron only a koso egt, don't have adjustable weights I'm running what it came with. I'll get your 3# from CV and we can chat.

M1000mod- I ride mosly 4-7k somtimes up to 10k I think the 44/38 sounds good maybe a 44/40 down low it might work well.

Has anyone ever seen an rkt 44/38 or 44/40 or a "44/36" like SLP sugests?

I run the 44/36 slp. The 44/ is very short then it breaks into the 36. works way better and They told me they had tried a longer 44 angle and this is what the sled responded to. I know a lot of people that like the rtk setups but also know a few that have done lots of tuning and actually like the compression setup better.

Well I just started running a straight 40 with cpc silver/white in the second hole. Running similar mods that you are running except slp pipe setup, cpc torsional kit, and 56/64 gears. I love this sled!!!! It pulls harder than it ever has.
