i have a 2008 700 Polaris shorty and recently the gauges cuts in and out all the like.....every 2 sconds... goes in reverse and the lights dont cut out... just the gauge.. new handwarmers.. and checked the gound(cleaned it and tightened it) seems to do it all the time and it dont matter witch way you turn the bars... changed VRs and tried a computer.... when hooked up to a batter on the ac outlet it powers the gauges all the time... no cut outs....anyone know whats going on?????

and sometimes if you hold the brake light the gauges will light up....but as soon as you rev the engine or spin the track they go out again...puzzeling..

Uh...? Sounds like a gremlin in your system... Can you check the voltage in to the gauges? If you got a short/bend in the wires that make the voltage drop? Is the socket inlet to the gauges fastended? Sounds like you got a bad connection that vibrates and only kicks in now an then.
Just a thought
Anywho: work your way back from the gauge to the ECU to see of there is something going on along the wires

Check the wiring just underneath the tool kit/ belt cover. had an 08 700 that had similar issues and found that 1 of the bullet style connectors was shorting against the belt guard just underneath the tool kit causing all sorts of wacky electrical issues.

okay guys i put the stator in and it helped alot...... it satys on now.....for a while... lol so it works fine u can rev it and let it idle and flash brake light, and it works awesome... then when standing on the machine and you jump or lean to the right the gauge goes out.... if u keep the bars straight and lean or jump or pull bars to the right... the gauge goes out and then on! Helllp

Are you 100% sure that the harness is ok and does not pinch in one place??
Check again down along the steering post and all the points where you can see the harness placed onto or nearby the frame and steering post.
Is the ground connections ok?
The symptoms you describe sounds like a bad connection or a torn cable connector IMO
