Help 2007 Rev Skies

My wife had an accident and has a hard time riding while standing. Still loves to get out but the REV handles like garbage if seated. Any Ideas on how to make it more tolerable? Ride at about 6000-8000 feet mostly loose snow.

Thanks

If your think of handling first thing I'd do is be sure the sled is set-up for her weight. Then I'd put a good set of wide powder ski's and be sure that the toe in/out is correct. As for brand of skis...while I use Slydog Powder Hounds I really like the SLP Powder Pros and am going to switch back to the SLP's on my own sled again...they give a good solid feeling as far as handling goes, they don't give the severe feedback that C&A's do and they aren't as soft feeling as the Slydogs. This is just my own judgment from running all 3. I'd also drop a couple of teeth off the top gear so she'll have her power at a slower speed which will help boost her confidence ...she won't have to go as fast to make the sled climb or power out of the fluff. I'm sure that others will have a bunch of little inexpensive tricks to add. Let us know what and how you make out.

no experience with skis, i am currently running the stock ones. is it a summit or a mxz? the a arm stance makes a big difference on how the sled handles. what do you mean about handling? like trying to do powder rolls? or just riding in general? if she wants it to lay over easier, Danny Alt at alternative imact.com makes a really skinny stance a arm that makes laying it over a breeze. try adjusting the front shocks? if she doesnt weight much dont have stiff shocks up front. also, try messing with the limiter straps. letting them out makes it wheelie, but if you tighten them up, it puts more weight on the front end for control.
by the way, money is the limit on how you can set these things up. if she needs to sit down while riding, get a high rise boss seat for her. that way she can still sit, but have a little better control and leverage.

Danzic,

Thanks, It is a REV 800R Summit, I'll try and adjust the strap down to put a little more pressure on the front end. When I ride it the only way it turns is with all your weight out on the side your turning to. It's like the front end just pushes the snow out of the way and doesnt grab hold? She needs to be able to just turn while seated with her weight shifted. Had her ankle fused from a four wheeler accident and standing on it really shortens the time she can ride. Thanks again for the input. Do you think a wider ski stance would help or should I narrow it?

one issue, not sure about her upper body strength, but when you tighten the straps up, it does turn better, but it makes turning the bars harder. but for the most part if she keeps moving, it should be ok. wider skies make floatation better in powder. my buddy has a turbo apex, and everyone was going and getting the wide ski, and he said they are awesome till you put your stock ski back on, than the wide skis are suddenly horrible haha.

Simmons or SLT skis and make SURE it has a little toe-out...toe-in will make it darty. Adjust suspension as already suggested.

look into maybe getting a high rise seat cover if you have the x style seat for that 07. youd be really surprised how much more comfortable she will be with riding it. i rode one with a high rise seat, and it almost felt like i was standing.

if i were to spend the bucks on a set of skis, id probably give these a try. http://www.modsskis.com/ they seem like a pretty good design. haven't heard a whole lot about them tho. Maybe Do some research on them. just bought a Boss seat, so skis are a ways away for me!

I have them on all my sleds and can't recommend them enough - much easier ski movement (sidehill/carve initiation) along with better overall control. Do a search - best investment you can make for a REV based sled.

Have FUN!
