Helmet Cam

Rotax what problems did you hear about the VholdR?

I actually had the VholdR pre-ordered the beggining of llast season, and got a refund back in December...

The vholdr has many issues, just see their own site forums. Microphone is useless, pictures jittery/not sharp, etc... for the price it's way oversold on hype.

There has been a version change 1.0 to 1.2 to resolve some issues it looks like.

There were some issues w/ battery clips not holding batteries in tightly.

Maybe things have turned around since, I haven't followed it closely.

Anyone have some Vholdr footage to post?

Was just lookin at footage on vholdr's website, and the cam does take some nice video.

Although both the Vholdr and POV seem to have a hard time with white balance in the open snowy sunny areas.
The HD does look d@mn nice tho.

heres a good comparison.. is the "countour HD" new? or just a new vholdr revision?
the countours color looks a lot better, and has the HD mode, which looks very nice. hmmm

Has anyone tried the Tachyon XC? the reviews are great and the price is just as good. Its a bit larger though.

Vholdr Sucks. It's a crummy overpriced cam that doesnt work well in cold enviornments, and it's not waterproof (we all know what snow is)

go for Gopro or tacyon, I have both.

I disagree 100%...I recorded approximately 60 hours of video last season and it worked flawlessly in temps from -10 degrees F to 50 degrees F. Snowing, super wet spring conditions, sunny...again not one issue.

well i was gonna order a vholdr untill i read some replies on it. what the he!! does vholder stand for anyway

GoPro

dirt-tested the Hero GoPro today.
2xAAA rechargeable NiMH dont seem enough, often crashed before the SD was 50% full or the file was lost due to the battery crashing before i was finished filming. Vid quality pretty decent for $150. Changing settings is tuff, due to tiny icons. I actually deleted the 1st 5 vids by accident by choosing the multi=delete option instead of multi-pic. Wham, lost gooders and started over.

only wish mark was wearing one too, when that cougar ran across my backtire ;) holly shiat!!

One of my friends purchased last years Vholdr model. I was not impressed at all with the video compression and the sound flat out SUCKED (but there was no initial calibration done on the camera).

3 months into the season the lens on the camera cracked and now shows a bad mark in the recordings. And I know the guy was easy on it.
