has anyone tried the "oregon scientific atc2k". if so please relate your experiencs with it. I ride with a bunch of mentally unstable nutbars and would like to catch some of it on film.

Just a suggestion

Try one of ours. Great picture 720 x 480(DV quality), very versitile mount system, L-Ion Battery so they wont disipate in the cold, 65 minutes per gig record time (they come with a 2 gig card and will support up to a 16 gig card). Too many features to list just check out the web sight. If you have any questions let me know. www.icamdvr.com

GoPro

I just picked up a little camera that comes with a pile of attachments called herocam made by gopro, totally waterproof, self contained, wireless and takes about an hr footage on a 2Gig card, for price and the quality of the filming, it's well worth it. Have to use Lith AAA batteries for the cold. Comes in a std and wide angle (170 degree FOV). Have tried the oregon scientific atc2k, total peice of sh!t, try the HERO Cam hade by GoPro, you won't be dissapointed. Not claiming it's the best out there, but for 200 bucks nothing will touch it, IMO. My .02, hope it helps

I have the viosport pov1. It is a great camera though a little spendy. Here is the link.

The most important thing IMHO is the resolution. The higher the better. There's nothing worse than the perfect moment caught on film and having it grainy so you can't see it.

What do you think would be better, the std or wide angle ? I want something that takes video just like you see.

Wide Angle

Be careful with wide angle lenses they do have the possibility of "fish eyeing" the picture and warping the edges.

As for the lower Res. picutes 512x380 and 640x480 the only viewing these are realy good for is youtube and smaller picture formats. If you want to blow them up for your tv or larger computer screen they will pixelate. But if youtube quality is what your lookin for then the GoPro is the better of two mentioned so far.

As for the more expensive high res. cameras ICAM and V.I.O its options and mounting veratility that seperate them.

Obviously I will be a bit biased. But both have there advantages.

True, it does sort of distort at the corners depending on how close to the "subject" you are, but this is also another reason I went with the wide angle, just to change up the view a bit with a different angle, plus it's a bit more forgiving in ther sense that you do not have to look at everything to see what's around, better riders eye view imo. As far as the quality on TV, I have not used the GoPro for that, but on the computer I'm happy with it, just another gadget to tinker with is all..
