ok im an idiot and removed my secondary clutch last week and disassembled it. now i got my new helix and put it together and something isnt right. when i start the sled its already in gear. wtf did i do and how do i fix this stupid mistake. any help would be great. thanks in advance

stock 09 m1 helix changed to slp helix 44/36

i was told to take it out and drive it and they usually shift out and are fine. not the case this time.
i can start it hold the break and it will run when cold but when i let off the break it will idle along at 7mph :o after it warms up and i stop it shuts off how do i adjust the secondary clutch to fix this?

anyone?

Did you set belt deflection properly after the helix change? I know helix change shouldn't change belt deflection, but checking it may help you narrow down the problem.

i didnt remove any spacers and everything looks like its in the same position it was when i took it apart. The slp mtx weight kit that i put in it did say to shim the spider with the shims they sent so ill try that today?
how tight am i supposed to tighten the bolts on the back of the secondary? if i tighten them all the way the bolt sticks through the helix and would hit the roller so im assuming i only tighten them so much..?

Its the primary not the secondary, you need to shim the primary because of the different weight profile on the mtx weights. If you put your belt all the way down in the primary you should have about .020 clearance between the belt and the shive. If you did not shim the spider the belt will be to tight causeing your primary to turn the belt before engagement.

Torque the bolts to spec. 10lbs if I remember correctly. MTX weights are a different profile and you must shim the primary for this. If it is a new belt, the belt will contact the sheaves and thus turn the secondary slightly. If everything else is the same, this is probably the problem. If you don't have the tools, have a shop shim your primary for you. It is alot cheaper that purchasing the tools.
