So I have a 38/44 helix in my cpc torsional secondary and I'm wondering about playing around with different helixes to fine tune a little more. If I drop the angles would it give me more top end track speed for climbing and quicker out of the hole response? Say going with a 36/42 helix for example. Or would I be looking for a wider spread like a 38/46?

Just looking for some insight as I am not as familiar with the clutching as I am with the rest of the turbo system.

What elevation, I would think it would give a little more top end track speed, unless you are a little guy in which case it wont really matter. Just have to try it and see

36/42 and 2 more grams in primary use big dog weights will give you more top end speed
 
I think my dealer is using 36/40 or 42 around 9-10000ft and it seems to work great for him, he is around 200lbs but I'm pretty sure thats how he sets up everyones sleds. Thats also not a torsional setup so there is a difference.
 
are most of you guys running straight cut helixes or progressive cuts ?? I am running a straight cut 44 with a cat orange secondary and it seams to work good. Now I am wondering if a 36/44 or a 36/48 will give me better bottom end response and quicker spooling...

Im running a 36/42 Im Thinking, Ill look at it tonight but is a CPC Secondary also with the Gen 2 torsional Setup. On a Cat M1000 Piped ,Attitude box, and lots of other upgrades and no problems with belts or too much heat in the clutching, Ill recheck when not at work for sure.:face-icon-small-ton

Turbo helix start low and and go up to load the turbo as it spools. N/A helix go the other way to hold rpm's in climbs as power levels off. I'd be surprized if you are running a 36/42 on a piped M100 and liking it. Are you sure it's not a 42/36?

Try a 36/48 or 36/44 and load your weights in the heal. What primary spring are you running right now? What gears are you running?
 
still think if your a over 200+lb rider and above 9000ft you want to be in that 42 and under on the finish.
 
I walk around at 165- 170 so I am defiantly not big. I am running mmsports heavy tip turbo weights as well at 7000 ft and under. So maybe that is why my straight 44 is working for me ...
 
Try a 36/48 or 36/44 and load your weights in the heal. What primary spring are you running right now? What gears are you running?

I am running the CPC gold white primary 135-305 lb finish. I also run light tip CPC turbo mags for boondocking. I tried running them heavy in the tips last season to see the result and I didn't notice much on the top end, it did hurt my bottom end response quite a bit though. I lowered my gears from the stock 57/63 to 55/65 and gained about 5 mph on the top end while climbing. It also hits harder down low so I'm happy with the new gear set.

I was checking out the dalton website and I didn't see a 36/42 or a 36/40 helix for my CPC torsional secondary so I might have to call them and see if they can custom cut it for me. Its going to be a trial and error process I think.

I'm also changing out my 09 pipe for a 2010-2011 pipe with larger stinger and the speedwurx turbo Y pipe for better flow. If anyone knows of a used 2010-2011 m8 pipe that someone wants to get rid of, let me know please.
