Heated enclosed trailer burns up

Mine has the same exact issue. What year is yours? Do you drive with it on? Shane told me 1 week ago everyone drives with them on, after they towed it back and he called me this week, he changed his tone and says I can't drive with it on. Unreal... I know 4 guys with this same trailer and they all drive with it on...

Like you, I ran mine for 45-1hr and the only area that was blowing warm air was in the box below the boots. The in floor heat didn't feel warm ever. I couldn't ever get my thermostat above 55degrees. The one day I ran the furnace for 4 hours and it still never got above 55degrees. I truly believe trails west failed on this new design. Everyone I know with a 2013 doesn't have these problems and the in floor heat system isn't necessary. All the ducting and air passages actually don't move air. Traps it

They said on Wednesday it was 7 degrees and they ran the trailer for 10 min and rose to 82 degrees inside. They even opened the side door and ran it to make sure it continuously run and nake sure the furnace didn't fail. Sounds like you have a faulty unit yourself.

Mine is a 2014 also. Yeah the in floor heat is pretty much worthless. I've only used my trailer three times and have had the heat on each time while traveling, so far no problems.
While yours is back at the factory, are they going to just fix the dependability issues you're having, or are they also going to try and get it to produce more heat? I have a 35 foot fifth wheel with a 35,000 btu furnace, it heats the trailer much better than the furnace in the Trails West trailer.

According to Shane they are sending out a bulletin to owners not to drive with the heaters running. There have been 7 furnace failures (I'm on my 3rd and I bought it Nov 11) and 2 complete losses (burn outs). I truly believe the in floor heat and ducting for the helmets etc is worthless. It traps the air doesn't push it thru like they advertise it. I don't know what they are going to do, he said they ran it but didn't say 10 min rather 1hr 10min and it hit 82 degrees.

I know first hand that this was the reason I sold my Triton and bought the trails west. I wanted to do what everyone said I could do, drive with the furnace on. Have a warm place to get dressed upon arriving at the trailhead and a way to dry the sleds on the way home from riding. I haven't been able to do either because the furnace issues. I was on vail pass and it was windy causing an internal fire.

If you can't drive with the furnace on then it really is pretty worthless. The furnace is so weak that it needs the extra time to take the chill off before you get to the parking lot.
What exactly are they doing to your trailer, is there any effort going into getting it to produce more heat?

I just don't want to loose money on this stoogie trailer so they are installing a furnace with metal blades instead of plastic. Mine kept melting so at least this should alleviate that issue I was having. The more I think about it, I want to be able to use it for why I bought it. Drive to a trail head with my pups, spend the night after riding on the recliner or cot I have and be right at the trail head in the morning. I have a generator to run a toaster, blender or whatever I want to and this is why I bought the trailer to really use it and enjoy it. I finish work Sunday and then I'm free until May so now that I'm getting closer to snowmobile season and spring time I'm excited to use it. And, they are confident this will prevent future issues that I was having. I can't wait to be on these mountain passes and have 65 degree trailer to sleep in. got my co2 detecter ordered.

I don't know why it would, but I'll be curious to hear if that fan might move more air. I really think 30,000 BTUs is enough to adequately heat this trailer.

i have the 20ft model no track melt & mine gets so hot in 15 minutes you have to open doors.my guess would be that gas fumes wear the cause of the 2 fires but thats just a guess.not sure how driving down the highway with heater on would cause these fires,i have used mine about 6 times but only once for over 1 hour will driving with no issues.oh i do keep my roof vent open while furnace is on though.

My vent window is always open to an extent. 30k btu 20'

Without the in floor heat where does the air primarily blow from? Other than the glove warmer box, I pretty much can't detect any heat coming from anywhere else.

it all just comes from the box that the furnace is in 3 small vents & one big one.but you can feel the air flow standing at the back of the trailer.

Our 2014 trailers are horse sh*t you don't feel a damn thing unless you are sitting on the bench upfront and put your hands in the glove warmer box. Absolute worthless design with the infloor heat and all the ducting. It sucks.

I have a friend that has a TW 6 place trailer, big thing. Anyway, he installed some blowers that you find in jet boat engine compartments to exit the fumes before you start the engine. He installed them inline with the exit to the heaters, his trailer stays super warm, the floor heat works as well as the boot dryers. He also uses the heat while driving, the one time I was with him, we stopped to get dressed, unload and the trailer was 70 in side.

Just a thought.

I never drove with my furnace on. Suburban says not to in the manual. The 35k heated up my non insulated 30' trailer quickly. It didn't get that hot but it was comfortable at -20 outside temp.

mine is a 2014 i just didnt feel like spending the $ for the floor heat & heated cabinet, kinda happy i didnt now.

Love my '13 28' Burandt. I added the Glove/boot warmer box and run 2 of the 3 vents in the stock locations in the front bench. I'm not convinced that the furnace is causing the issues, I think it might be the way they run the wiring. First thing I noticed when I got mine is that the wiring at the front of the trailer under the bench is run straight thru a hole cut in the sheet metal. I made sure to run some wire loom over the wires to protect them.

Has anyone tried the vent free heaters? The wall mount model is suppose to heat real well. These are recommended for RVs.. NOT the radiant model, the blue flame model.. Forced air propane furnaces are a JOKE.........

Forced air propane furnaces are a JOKE.........

What do you have against forced air furnaces?
From what I've been told, the vent free furnaces end up putting a lot of moisture in the trailer. Whether or not this is true I don't know as I have NO first hand experience with them. I do know that if you run a heater off of a propane bottle inside your trailer you do have lots of moisture.

My 35k forced air propane joke dries out 5 sleds and all the gear overnight!. Never had any issues
