I just purchased some heat foil tape from Home Depot. It is foil tape good up to 325. Do you think this will be good enough around the wiring under the hood. I put on twin pipes on my, M7 and don't want to melt anything.
thats the same tape i use and have had no problems. but i never put it on the wires on on the plactic around the can and places on the hood. i would think it would fine. i crashed once and the pipe on my sled was laying one the hood and it didnt melt the heat tape.
It will work but will not last a long time. The best thing to do is get the thicker heat tape found for drag racing etc and put a layer of that over it for those places really close to the pipes. For the hood the foil tape works fine but after a while the adhesive will fail from the heat. Double or triple it up if you need to.
