when people replace the heat tape are they using an actually thick heat tape, or just the aluminum tape reflective tape you can buy at napa and those places?

Reflective aluminum tape is what I use and what comes with SLP pipesets.

ok thanks, found some at napa cheap as hell, but the actual heat tape is expensive as hell so i was hoping this was right.

Aluminum tape works and is available at any home improvement store by the HVAC duct stuff.

a normal sized roll comparible to duct tape was 5 dollars at napa.

I like the more expensive stuff at home depot. It has a larger temp range. I seem to have less problems with it.

The really cold days the cheaper stuff doesn't stick as well.
