Heads up on FirstPlaceParts

Ordered goggles and vent kit on Dec 30th. They charged my card on the 30th. I paid for 2nd day air UPS. Finally called on Jan 8th. They said my order should go out today. Just a heads up for everyone, had better luck with Fun Outfitters

ordered klim coat on the 17th of dec. aint seen it yet. called them, "will call you back". no phone call. try to call them 2 days straight-no answer. 3rd day - busy all day. i want my coat please! and it is now jan. 8th.

I ordered some stuff on Dec 18 I got it Tuesday no big deal to me, but I wasn't in a hurry for it. But I was expecting to get a pair of Togwotee gloves but was informed in the shipping bill that they were sold out and no longer available, account was credited back. I could of used an email to tell me that and I would of selected a different pair of gloves or even ordered the 2010 gloves Togwotee gloves.

I tried ordering from them also, same deal, was told it was all in stock, waited over a week, finally cancelled and ordered from dennis kirk and had it in 2 days.

Never had that problem ordering from Dennis Kirk or JRGraham or Cabela's, all of which ship by the following morning and sometimes the same day.

Matt,

I'm sorry to hear about your situation, yet really glad you started this thread !! I've been venting to my friends about service from FirstPlaceParts; one buddy just sent me this discussion. My time is valuable, as I’m sure yours is, as well. I have called them countless times when the answering machine was not even accepting messages. One time the voice message said to e-mail. I’ve tried that with absolutely no response. As you mentioned, they were very quick to accept the money.

I wrote FirstPlaceParts the following letter … nothing fancy. I’m sure you’ll be able to assume, no response.

To whom it may concern (sales@firstplaceparts.com),

I'm a very easy going person. I understand that it's the holidays and that disruption and emergencies can occur. However, even a person like me can occasionally become disappointed when minimal expectations are not met. Dealing with First Place Parts has been one of those occasions. I've spent my time trying to call your phone number, many times, with no opportunity to even leave a voicemail message. Some of your voicemails have mentioned to send an e-mail. I've done that too with no response. This order was placed on 12-18. This type of service and fragmented thinking is no longer acceptable it today's marketplace.

Sincerely,
Dr. David xxxxx

Bad service sucks it really does and I will admit it!!! However I am sure it has happened to everyone before and when you are doing the quantity of product that these guys do your gonna have an issue here and there.

The people at First Place are wonderful and I am sure everyones issues will be taken care of sooner then later. I have order tons of stuff from them in the past and everything has always been good. Maybe what everyone really needs to do is complain to there local dealer......... I encourage people to talk to your dealer and ask them why they do not have the products that you want!!! The other thing that people are bad at is waiting till the last minute to get stuff and expect that there will be no issues. No shipping companies ever guarantee anything that time of year unless you really really want to pay for it and it still may not get there.

I ordered some klim stuff from them last Thurs. Tracking said that it is supposed to be here today. According to UPS right now it's on the delivery route. I'm happy with 4 day free shipping.

I agree with having a hard time reaching them on the phone. I tried to call them for a couple different days and their answering machine said the office was closed because of adverse weather. I live 90 miles to the north and our weather was fine, but cold. I thought it was a little ironic a snowmobile supplier was closed because of the weather unless they were out riding...

I ordered a coat for my daughter thru them and it was taking forever. When I did here from them they said it was backordered and will be shipped as soon as they get it. Well I finally got it but it was a few weeks later. This was in October so we were in no hurry. Sounds like they just drop ship everything from the factories so they don't have to inventory anything. I won't shop there again.

FirstPlaceParts.com

Mark here from FirstPlaceParts.com.

I am the owner of FPP and do take every negative comment seriously and do like to hear what we are doing wrong and what we do correctly.

This may be a long post but here we go.

I'm also not making excuses but do need to explain.

To start the post, we did make mistakes and am sorry for that.

We are not going tits up, we are actually looking to expand due to the problems listed in this post, we were under staffed this year for the volume of orders we had, our mistake. We had a part time person who left mid December and our MAIN order processor had a death in the family the week of Christmas, this left us very under staffed and the people who answer the phones were now doing their work on top of what they normally do.

One comment was that we drop ship everything. We do not drop ship everything, we carry very large quantities of Klim, Castle, FXR, Snobunje and many other products. When you add up the pages of just the clothing catalogs we carry it is over 315 pages, with several colors and sizes on each page the numbers get staggering. We place large stocking orders with each of these companies but cannot stock everything in each catalog, this would be a multi million dollar venture every year just to stock one of each size and color, let alone several in each size and color. Then imagine the stock you would have left at the end of the year.

Then we get to the parts. Just the SLP catalog is 120 pages long with several products per page. Stocking every product in quantities would also be a very large order every year for us. We do stock a lot of SLP but cannot stock every product they carry. This does not even include all the Western Power Sports product we stock and carry or the Parts Unlimited stuff we stock and carry. We could not even come close to carrying all these products. Our goal is to get this done but cannot at this point.

I like everyone who posted here, am an avid snowmobiler. I started FirstPlaceParts.com because I did not like buying Klim from one place, SLP from another and a running board from another, so I started FPP. I bought my first set of Klim gear at the old Yamaha dealer in Cooke City and many other parts at several other dealers or sites on the web.

We have been growing faster than we can keep up and WILL have this changed for next year. We need more phone lines and more people to answer these lines and to respond to your emails, this was MY mistake and we hope to remedy this from here on out. I would like, in the next few years, to have almost every product in stock that most mountain riders need. We have a lot now but will improve on that.

Again, I am sorry for the mistakes we made this year and hope those of you who had a bad experience will give us one more try.

***If you have any problems in the future pm me and I will get it taken care of.

Thanks for reading this, FPP will do a better job in the future for the Snowest.com users and all who place orders with us.

Thanks
Mark

Mark, thank you for informing us of your situation.
much better understanding now.
always learn from past experiences.

p.s. - i still have a past order that needs addressed-order #24034
and now have a current one placed.
see i still have/had confidence in you and your company

Sounds good, everyone can learn from the past. I will be placing a order shortly, its always good to hear from the owner, that things will be chaning. ;)

I bought some SuperClamps from FirstPlaceParts this year. After I placed the order online they called to let me know they were not currently in stock and it would be a couple weeks before I got them. I wasn't in a hurry so that was fine. I really appreciated the call and in that respect I thought the service was great.
