headlight delete installed

I installed the Mt. Fit Hoods headlight delete kit tonight. i ordered just the standard delete kit not vented. the fit on it is terrible, with a pair of scissors i made it fit. no directions on how to put it in, and basically a pain to put in anyway. i like the looks of the kit from the outside, but i wouldn't order another one. basically a 40 dollar piece of plastic that doesn't fit worth a crap.

yeah i don't mind the looks of it, it's just the thing is crap to install and there is way more material there than a person needs.

So how much does the headlight weigh? The hood definitely feels super heavy although it only weighs like 15lbs total. Looks good and bummer on the fitment, I was thinking about ordering one up too. Thanks for the report

what do you do when it gets dark and you are not back yet, do you just use helmet lights or something!

i have a small extermely bright light that i mount on the handle bars, since i have no windshield it works really well (i don't worry about them at night as much as it's easier for other people to see me with one on regardless of night or day). i think the headlight is 3lbs i'll weigh it again tonight.

the two front wheels are 1lbs total (i use hyperfax)
the stock muffler is 11.5 lbs total (BMP powder lite is 4lbs)
the headlight is 3 lbs total if i remember right (walmart sells ones that are about .5 lbs)

now i've lost 30lbs since last year and my sled is 50 lbs lighter so that should be a noticeable difference i would think.

Off topic but I saw that you have the BMP Powderlite can, I just ordered one and I was wondering how it sounded and build quality.
Thanks

good quality and loud, which is what i wanted. it's not deafening loud but it's louder than stock by a ways. this is the first one i have ran, always have used SLP but i wanted the weight savings. they guaranteed no HP loss so i hope they are right.

Thanks for the report and that is what I figured, I wanted louder than stock just not super high pitch annoying loud. And ya 4 lbs is light!

Sno Pro / Diehard,

I'm not sure "loud" is a good thing these days. We already have enough problems with the "greenies", and this just gives them another reason to try to keep us out of the back country. Loud sleds only make it a more up-hill battle as we fight to keep riding area open.

Hopefully everyone will re-consider putting louder pipes/cans on their sleds..."fake power" really does not accomplish anything in the final analysis.

Cheers!

that's a touchy subject with people, i agree with you on the greenies and would like to see most of them shot. i want the lightweight, and i know the "fake power" doesn't exist but it does accomplish the lightweight i want and taking off 7.5 lbs is a big deal especially if you can do that in a couple of different spots. now as for loud this is not an echo through the trees loud can, it's not what you are thinking like a set of pipes that ring your ears. it's just a snorty sound different than stock but not annoying. i agree with what you are saying but i'm going with what i consider a happy meduim and hope it works well, on top of that i ride in low population areas so that helps as well.

The fit is terrible or there was just excess material that you had to spend five minutes trimming off? The fit is perfect as far as the light size, the mold for the product is an exact headlight out of a pro....Im curious, what directions do you need to install it, its one piece that fits directly into the openings doesnt it?? Isnt the kit supposed to look good from the outside, like you say it does?? Not sure that i would complain about the fit and finish on the inside?? IDk, i guess these comments just come out pretty brutal when the final product appears to look awesome and you got just what you bought, a piece of plastic that removes the weight that you were trying to save and looks good in doing so...

and it only cost 40 bucks...

guessing you work for or have ties to them, regardless, why do i have to cut a piece that is an exact mold of a headlight. direction as to where to put the rivets to hold it in there the most secure way would be alright. i don't want to drill holes in my hood to install it since the person who gets it next year might not want holes in it and a headlight. yes it costs 40 bucks that's what my start post said. i like stuff to look good and fit good no matter what it costs or where it goes. and so what if i had to spend 5 minutes or an hour trimming to get it right, i didn't have to do that to the original head light that you say they made a mold of, the headlight didn't stick down 3 inches inside the hood either so not real sure what mold you are talking about but i ordered the kit and i installed in on a pro so i think i would have a pretty good idea what i am talking about.

Most disappointing item that I have ever bought for one of my sleds was a Mountain Fit hood. I have spent thousands of dollars on aftermarket items and this by far was the worst fit and finish of anything that I have bought. I agree 100% with Snopro AC. Honest opinions from CONSUMERS, people who have actually used a product is critical feedback for other potential users as well as for the manufacturer themselves. I did voice my displeasure to Mountain Fit and was summarily ignored, couldn't even get any useful info on the install, how to secure, latch/catch, etc. Poor product and poor customer service with my experience. Not bashing, just giving honest feedback on MY experience.

Why do you have to cut a piece that is an exact mold you ask? Becasue people install them in many different ways putting rivets where they best see fit. Some glue and RVT them in some just rivit them in, if you didnt want to drill holes probably shouldnt have bought it in the first place, maybe the website should state it either way you are correct directions would make it nicer. I understand that you like things to look good and fit good, im curious as to why the rant if you did even have to spend an hour installing it...? It does and looks exactly what you bought it for..no? The price quote of 40 dollars was a point to be made that you get what you pay for, the product is designed to be affordable but still serve it purpose. No sh*t you didnt have to do any trimming to get your original headlight in, you payed 12k for the sled and it came assembled...my statement was never to be derrogatory towards your installation or the fact that you did or did not buy the kit or did or did not own a pro, i have installed three of them, i as well know what your talking about by the 3" tab hanging down, im sorry that it troubled you to cut it off and waste that hour out of your day, and when its all said and finished it looks, does, and is what you bought.

Whole nother subject matter but thanks for the input, im not here to deny that you did or didnt get help answering your questions but for 150-200 and at most 250 dollars surely you werent expecting the hood to come from the factory trimmed and perfect, thats why they dont cost 580 dollars like a stock IQ hood does...i guarantee you that with a little bit of time and effort it would fit just like the stocker, its much easier to type on here though than admit you didnt take the time to trim it out correctly, or you made a boo boo that didnt fit...idk maybe im wrong.

not the point, i just gave an accurate accessment on a product i purchased on a site that talks about products and experiences that we all have. the only reason i had to cut it was to get it to fit in the same fasion that the head light did, if i didn't cut it i'd have a gap in the headlight holes towards the back, and you're right i can see why it only cost's 40 dollars.
