Heading to Leavenworth in a couple weeks-

Does anybody want to give me a hint or two on good riding spots? We are not trail riders, just looking for a little open space, and some hills to play on.
My girlfriend and I will be up around the 18th for a couple days, staying just West of Leavenworth.
Is there a lot of open area to ride, or is it getting shut down like here in Central Oregon?
Thanks,
Matt

Trail riding?

If you go to eagle creek, you can get to the Sugar Loaf area in a short time. Miners ridge#11 boondocking/ hill climbing , Golds ridge#12 for some hill climbing, trail #9 not sure of the name but one of mine and wife's fav trails of the whole fish lake trail system. If you are into a whole day ride head over Mavrick Saddle into the back area by the cabin, off of trail #8 just need to look for it and you will find the trail (local fav) so just look! and you will find. Great area just need to take the trails that seem to lead to nowhere. Make sure if you go into the BC you have a GPS and Beacon, and in a lot of the areas your cell phone will work. Good luck and have fun!

Wow...thats a very helpful post, thanks!

We have been over there riding and absolutely loved it, but...we only did several loops on the perfectly groomed trails.

We were wondering if there were any areas to break out into the open and do a little hill riding and I think you just cleared that up for us. :face-icon-small-coo

We rode up to sugarloaf and Miners ridge on Sunday. We started our ride from over towards Fish Lake. I have never riden such a washboard my whole life. I mean it really really sucked. I guess they only groom on Mondays and Thursdays. So by sunday it really sucks. If I was to ever do the sugarloaf ride again I would trailer to Eagle crest and ride from there.

Thanks a ton!

Thanks for the info guys!
Wimpy, I appreciate the offer, and look out, I may just take you up on it! Great pics (I cyber stalked you a little bit it right there...) The one thing I noticed is there were no upside down or horrifically stuck pictures. I can only assume you guys know how to ride up there!:face-icon-small-ton
Are Polaris sleds allowed?

Another place a little east of Leavenworth is the Colockum area. Lots of open areas, hills, just about everything for everyone. Takes about 40 min. to get to from Leavenworth. Only about 20 min. on the highway, the other 20 min. is going up Stemilt Loop Rd to the sno-park. If you need directions, let me know.
