My buddy has a 03 zx 800 renagade he was talking about wrapping his exhaust with header tape was wondering if anyone has done this?

black stove pipe paint... you can get it at somewhere that sells fireplace stuff... seems to work pretty good, and its cheap... like $13 a can, and that will do the whole exhaust no prob.

What is the reason why not to do it?

Header wrap gets wet and makes the perfect rust enviroment for exhaust systems.

It can also hold too much heat in a pipe, causing you to heat-soak and loose HP at the end of a long pull.

I tried the header wrap on my 07 M8 which had the underhood heat problems. It only lasted a few riding days and the pipe seams wore through the wrap from vibration. I ceramic coated it after that and the heat issues went away. It looked damn nice too.
