HCR with Powerclaw track.....

Arctic Cats new HCR with the Powerclaw seems pretty sick. Was at the snow show and talked to a rep from cats engineering dep. and he showed me the powerclaw. Have a chance to get an HCR in Mountain Home end of November.....Looks to be the coolest track on the snow this year. any one ride a '09 last year and whats your take on the new track and the HCR? Thanks:cool:

If you ride the trails and like harder conditions and jumping the HCR should be great. It has a harder compound track then the other M-series and a wider stance on the ski's. It would be a great sled for jumping and racing hillcross but if you like cutting thru the tree's in deep powder that is not what it was built for. I like the graphics they look better then the others but i like powder and mountain riding.

And if the guy you talked to was Rob lewis he isn't from the engineering dept. he is a sales rep. The other guys in there where from dealerships. If you talked to Bret a skinny guy with a beard he does know what the Arctic cats are all about especially the way they are engineered and what the purpose is behind the powerclaw track.

Be careful with the track on the HCR, the harder compound will make in trench worse in the powder, it wasn't built for powder.

That powerclaw is a stiffer track than the powerclaw that comes on the snopro/standard M-sled. It will be interesting to see how they compare to each other.

HCR has the rear float susp with Ti torsion springs which will make it a dream through the whoops/washed out trail/jumping.

I use the 39" front, so the 43" stance wouldn't work for me.

Does it come premix or with an oil pump? Tighter head than the stocker?

"HCR has the rear float susp with Ti torsion springs "

that doesnt make any sense, torsion spring and a float in the rear? It has Ti clutch springs no torsion springs.

Your right, for some reason I thought I saw torsoion springs on it as well, but it was the stabilizer bar that comes down under the float.

I have one comming from Cat should be here in a month or so I will let you all know how she rides. Im a powder rider and a tree rider but comming off a Rev I think I will like the wider stance but Im not sure of the track. If the harder track makes it trench Im getting rid of it and going with a 150 2.5. It should be interesting we plan to put some more hp on it as well. If its to wide I guess I will be putting a standard M8 front end on it. Pray 4 snow

By the time you put the different front end on it and a different track you will be where the standard M8 is so I hope you like the setup or your going to be out a lot of extra cash.

You'd be better off just picking up a snopro if your going to ride powder. The hcr is made for a course. It will see more dirt/rock/hardpack/ice then it will powder.

Sleds are bottom less money pits! Im not to worried about the cost of a track and a front end. Anyways if I go 150x2.5 im still not running a 153. As far as being out a bunch of extra cash I would have to disagree seeing as I will have 2 set ups 1 for winter 1 for spring.
