What clutching setup works the best for 0-3000'? Should I get a shift assist? Should I get a full clutch kit, or just change the weights and helix according to the chart under the hood? This is my first mountain sled and need some help.

about half way down the page is an 07-09 clutch thread. All the info you need will be in there. There are two different routes that both work pretty good it all depends on how much money you want to spend. spring and shift assist ($40), or full kit ($250). They both work, obviously the full RKT or cutlers kit works better but it is also more expensive. I started with the shift assist, and then upgraded later on to the rkt kit.

hey

I had my helix changed to a 48/36, and kept the weights stock to see where that gets me. I'll see if the rpms get he where I want to go, and maybe change them, and shift assist also. 0-3000 mostly. Turny, petersville riding mostly. tim

The motor is going to remain stock. I'll probably just keep the stock clutching for when I go west. I'm going to to a shift assist, but what spring, helix and weights should I be using at 1000' of elevation?

I have a shift assist on my HCR and it works awesome, if you are goiing to do the shift assist i would do the rollers to put hard rock rollers in too. I am at 2000ft and i use 77g weights with the shift assist and hard rock rollers and everything else is stock. So i would say you should use 80or83g maybe?

Sorry not a clutch guru, but what do the rock rollers do? Did you keep your stock helix?

The helix is suppose to roll better with the hard rock roller and they last longer then stock. The stock rollers will get flat on top and i did keep the same helix. Everything is stock on the clutching but the rollers and shift assist. It works awesome great 17 dollar mod:D worth every penny!!!
