HayDays thoughts............................

RULES AND REGULATIONS. I say let people do what they want, when they want and how they want. Yes I like to see more snomobile related things but You guys could work for the IRS.

*See line 42 if, you have over 3000lbs of non-snowmobiling related garbage.

*See line 54 if, you have over 4000lbs of snomobiles and/or your Trailer is muti axle. Excluding out of State vehicles and/or who were witnesses half an hour before sunset the day proir to the event. Or trailers who do not meet the DOT inspection as specified in pages 23-32 excluding line 7-12.

No hard feelings but thats just my take.

Mafesto, I couldn't say it better. The gypsy's got to go. Maybe it's too close to the MN state fair time so they simply park their fair rides and pick up their sled trailers full of parts? I don't know but 5-6 aisles from east all the way to the west tree line could be removed and could offer a lot more in the forms of parking and like you said quality vendors.

I think the event has grown and evolved to the point that it truly is more of a "show" than a swapmeet.
Now we just need to complete that evolution & run off the riff-raff.;)

when i was a kid i lived in lino lakes from 1980-1990 and can remember when the swap meet was on the north side of the track and was about the size of a football field and on the south side was all corn field, how times have changed. have not been there for about 8 years now will be going this year.

The swap area is a little speratic (unsure on spelling, its friday). meaning you walk down an entire aisle and dont see sled parts, then the next one is packed with them. I took the wife 2 years ago and will never do that again. She hated it, she wanted to know why i looked at other people used parts. at least with snowest i can tell her im doing research to buy new ones. HAHA. I will be there sat and sun. looking forward to spendy money.
We should have a spot to meet on Sat for the guys on Snowest. Somewhere by the drag area or Freestyle park. just an idea

Its a swap meet!

Ones mans junk might be another man's bread and butter. But it is a SNOWMOBILE SWAP MEET. I don't care for the large amount of dirtbike, atv parts.

For the note i have been there every year for who knows how long. It is a great event and wouldn't miss it. My group walks every row of the swap looking for deals that i don't have to pay shipping on like ebay. We hit it both days.

The tools are ok. Every guy that is there buying parts most likely would like to buy some tools.

One thing i would say for sure is don't bring the wife if you plan on walking through the swap area all day unless she is die hard.

Wow can't wait for hay days glad it is a little earlier this year!!!!!

It started as a snowmobile swapmeet, now its a flea-market with a few snowmobile related items. I'll be at haydays, but will probably skip the swap area and just hit up the vendors. I go to princeton for the swap, seems like there is alot more snowmobile stuff there, although it gets more like the haydays flea-market every year.

First & formost.................
Get rid of the "Redneck Heaven"
These shadetree swappers selling everything from SnoJet windshields to Rupp throttle cables gotta go.

I realize this was once a significant drawing card for the Haydays experience, but times have
changed. This is not what most attendees want to see.

I am not driving 200 miles to look at rusty antiquated crap. Ebay is your friend, use it.

Get the vendor area back down to a reasonable size.
(Quality not quantity)

The Snojet windshields and Rupp throttle cables may be precisely what many of these people are looking for. This is a swap meet. If you want the big show and tons of vendors, go to the X-Games.
I'm not so arrogant as to assume I know what "most attendees" are looking for. Your "particular" likes and dislikes are irrellevant. This swap meet attracts all different kinds with all different needs. Last year I found some goodies for my M8. This year I'm on the hunt for 78 Jag parts for a vintage ride we are putting together. I hope they let some of the "rednecks" stay, I need parts.

I've been going to 24 straight years and watched it grow from a small area on the North side of the track only... to both sides of the tracks and now to just the south side. I walk every aisle and look at everything snowmobile related. I'm not going to lose sleep over someone selling non snowmobile items but at the same time, it does get a bit cluttered.

As far as cutting back the swap and enlarging the vendor area, I think that is stupid. What vendor has parts, on hand, for my 94 Indy 500 or my 97 XLT, still good sleds but parts are hard to find. (I have access to the Polaris dealers website and all I ever see is part discontinued) We need to have the swap...

jsledder and borderstaff summed it up perfectly - but how do they stop that? Have someone inspect each rig as it comes in? I have been a swapper and that really is the best way to see haydays so I understand the guys that come in with nothing to sell and just hang out? But I only swapped when I had stuff to sell. I know guys that take the big motorhome and only bring one or 2 overpriced sleds with no plan to sell. It is the perfect place to stay for the dedicated haydays goer. But again, what do they do, inspect every vehicle or set a minimum amount of sled related items to sell? I would love to see alot less junk there just taking up space.

Perhaps the cost of space needs to be jacked up to the point to eliminate the riff-raff crowd?

It is real simple if you don't like it don't go. Have been swapping for 15 years now and I have to say I have had more fun the last few years even though there is alot more unrelated snowmobile stuff. Anyone who reads this tread and finds my swap spot there is a free beer(good old schells) and maybe some real good deals waiting for you. I will have a big GOLDEN WEST BANNER up easy to find.
Hope to meet some fellow snowesters.
