HAYDAYS CLOSED!!!!!!!!!

went to haydays today there was NO traffic jam drove right in
the only time we stoped after leaving the house was to pay the $5.00 for parking .
walked right in when they opened the gates at 7:00 left at 2:00
no problems at all

Ive been going to haydays for over ten years and i have never waited in line ever because i got my butt out of bed in the morning(4:30). To everybody that is *****ing about waiting, do you show up for a major event and just walk in an hour after it opened? what did you think was gonna happen? Gimme a break! I would be pissed if i waited in line but i wasn't dumb enough to think i could show up at 7 and walk in the door. It rained 3 inches and took out half the parking something that's not in the sb's control. Plus the sheriff's were telling people to leave and 30,000 people showed up for an event thats meant to hold 15,000. Now i will admit that they need to have a how to park people clinic for the volunteer's but other than that i sold 1500 dollars of stuff i didnt need and bought some other stuff i didnt really need LOL! It was fun and i will be back and for the rest of you stay home and i will get all the good stuff for myself!

P.s. if you dont like the way it is run then maybe you should volunteer and see how much you like people *****ing at you for something thats mostly out of their control

I was in traffic, waiting at 6:30 am.

If I was in charge, I would have held it.... I don't know, at a location you could get to?

Volunteer? The Sno Barons are ripping people off and MAKING money, I'd hardly call that effort "volunteering"

X2 only I was waiting from 6 15 .the spokes person seed if not for the rain they would have between 6k and 7k spot well that math is already fed up expecting 20k a day 1/8 with trailer or more 2 guys pet truck where the **** did they think the other 2,5 k trucks were going to park they knew they had issues had over 5 yrs to plan for it did nothing but build their club house F off sno barons

A picture tells a 1000 words. This was taken 2.5 miles from Haydays. HUNDREDS of people walking down the highway, almost like a zombie flick.

Everyone who had to walk miles to the event should have gotten in for free.

There isn't much that a Sno Baron could say on here that could calm this crowd. I'd be pissed if I waited that long too. Good thing I decided to skip it this year. My friends walked miles also. It boils down to not enough parking and everyone deciding to take the same way to the show. The haydays website did give directions and a perfered route through Stacy from the south and said that if you decide to take 95 through North Branch to be ready for delays and be patient. I guess not enough people took that advise. It didn't help that the Mn DOT has been working on the 95 overpass for nearly 3 years and that is only 2 lanes in both directions. Remember the old location only had a 2 lane road going north and south too and there was never problems like this. They need more parking and maybe have shuttle busses. Did I mention more parking? It seems like an easy problem to fix. It's not like the show sucked. No one has said there were issues there, in fact most people I've heard from said it was better than in previous years.

As far as a professional company putting on haydays who do you guys suggest that has put on shows like this for 44 years like the Sno Barons? They do need to get better at customer service, clear up issues with the way the swap was handled, the pre sale stuff worked last year, and obviously work on parking. Those are all issues that can be handled.

The site will not work because the roads will not handle the flow they need. you cann't have one access point and think you can get the the flow they need to handle people they have comming in every year and they should have known that from past site which had multiple access points and they still had traffic problem there is't that way they moved. I did get in but I was there at 5:45 and the road was backing then.

If we all get there at 4:30 it will be the samething it will not handle the flow they need to get that many people in.

The people getting stuck excuse for the traffic is an absolute lie. We were with the swap vehicles that they had to move in the morning. They were gonna move us to a different line in the first come first serve order we were in to get in the swap. They had two people trying to control these hudreds of vehicles.

As soon as the first three vehicles moved it was a land rush free for all to jump in line in front of every one else. We were 8th in line until that happened. We never even moved because we were pointed down hill and pretty much knew that was coming. People had there vehicles jack-knifed and stuck all over. We just waited for them to pull out the retards and got 40mph run through the mud. But we went from 8th in line to 800th.

That being said their parking area was not even 10% full when the last tard was pulled out and nobody was stuck within a 1000ft of an entrance gate. So if the Sno-Barrons try to blame the weather and the tards for the traffic jam it is complete BS.

LOL. Haydays gets worse every year. They ought to just give up and try something else.

I was there on Friday afternoon....The rain was NOT a factor.. It is all sugar sand. It did rain Friday night but 7 am sat morning it didnt even stick to your shoes... I didn't see any flooded out parking or any other parking area....... This is a POOR location...These small back country roads may work only IF The snowbarons would take vehicles in large #s at a time "4-5 rows" NOT everyone thru One gate and one vehicle at a time. Our friends walked 5.5miles to get to the gate..Now anything they purchase they would have had to carry back 5.5miles....I talked to others that walked 7miles. Good thing it was cool out..If it was 90+ degrees some people would have dropped over" and no way to get the paramedic's in.. PISS POOR LOCATION.
WHAT were they thinking......Very little parking..they couldn't have parked the 20,000 people.....Small roads, and corn fields....NOWWHERE to go...I've been going since 1996. It is a great event..Just need to have some professional planning...Haydays has always been unorganized.... I LIKE THE FAIRGROUNDS idea..I'm sure someone is in the hotseat on this one!!!!

RIGHT FULLY SO!!!!!!

hay days 2010

what happened to the other location, why did they move it, I have been going for the last 6 years and this may be my last. waited in line for 4 hrs and then walked 2 miles. not a fun day at all. plus it seemed very unorganized compared to the other location swap parts here swap parts there oh and lets turn the rows the other way just to change it up a bit the vendors were all over the place didnt seem like there was any spots just every one ran and found a spot and set up.
Move it back to the old location at least when i got charged $10 or $5 to park it ws less than 100 yards away. this had to hurt the swap people I saw a brand new track that I would of bough but there was no way i was carrying it 2 miles. well thats my 2cents MOVE IT BACK
thanks

The swap area seemed about half the size as the old location and it is also true that they were turning away people who had pre-registered. Another thing I noticed is that the swap area had a much higher percentage of hillybilly white trash vendors pushing absolute garbage not even related to snowmobiling while people that had legitimate snomobiling related items were turned away. Also, contrary to what they are saying, it was not filled to over capacity. It was far less crowded because no-one could get in and a lot of people decided to not come. I was there trying to sell merchandise and let me go on record as saying I heard from a number of dealers and swappers who paid a lot of blood-money to get the "privelege" of showing their stuff at the Haydays that were pissed that potential buyers were restricted from buying their merchandise because they couldn't even get into the gate. Not cool...The other thing I heard quite often was that people from outta town had virtually nowhere to stay because of the remote location. One group told me the only thing they could find were some campsites about 35 miles away. YUK!:face-icon-small-fro

I was a first time visitor and I was impressed with the show. I am a farmer and I am used to getting deals at farm shows. Was told at a goggle booth they couldn't sell goggles less than suggested retail since they didn't want to upset dealers who were at the show. I guess this must be normal since there weren't a lot of deals to be had from any of the vendors. As far as the crowd issue, this show isn't really that big, look at the crowds handled at Husker Harvest Days or at the Farm Progress Shows. The Husker Harvest Days offers free parking and you are welcome to bring your camper if you want and stay in the parking lot. In my opinion, everyone comes with a budget and if more money is spent on rooms and beer in bars there will be less spent at the shows, you can buy a case of beer for the same as a round of drinks, let us party with like minded people in one spot and take people off the roads at the same time. If you don't want to camp stay in town and ride the free bus offered by the sno barons, i am guessing you could have chartered a couple of buses cheaper than renting a D6 Cat. When it comes to the swap meet, what a joke, 99% of that crap should have been hauled in when steel prices were high. Can you really tell me someone was here looking for a used 13" computer monitor for $4? Really?!? I don't know the validity of the prepaid vendors who were turned away but i am guessing a first year law student would be able to get you reimbursed for all of your expenses related to preparing for the swap meet and milage.

thats because no one came back today after the mess yesterday

Finally watched the news clip from wcco. Now i realize why everyone is so mad, the sno barons rep isn't even big enough (pun intended) to admit to a planning mistake. Such arrogance is even more proof for the need to move this event west where real snowmobiling takes place. I suggest the world famous B. Chip in Sturgis. This venue offers police who know how to deal with traffic, facilities to handle hundreds of thousands, and maybe some of the junk will bounce off the trailers before it gets out to the swap meet.
