Hay Days Luck?

I'm thinking of purchasing a sled there this weekend. My buddy says that a lot of "junk" sleds are sold there. How good of luck have you guys had in the past? Also do you think the sellers there would mind a check? I'm not gonna carry around 5k cash with me.

If I was selling a sled there is no way I would take a check from a guy I had never seen before and will never see again. Too much risk. Keep enough money on your person for a deposit and keep the rest locked up in the truck. If you see a sled you like give the seller the deposit and tell him you'll be back with the balance.

The seller would have to be foolish to take a check.
People melt when they see a wad of cash too, makes it much easier to negogiate a lower price.

I understand that cash talks but my parents won't let me bring that much with me. Also one of the sno barons members suggested to NOT leave a cash deposit with someone because they could leave without you knowing.

Be really careful, there are a lot of sleds out there that are nothing more than a polished turd

I've heard guys say there are lots of deals to be had. All the same cash over check for sure I'd say. Maybe keep the cash at the truck and ask the seller to come out with you.

Oh and tell me where you are parked and what you drive!

It sure wouldn't make any sense to buy from a reputable dealer that would actually stand behind the sled if something went wrong right away.:face-icon-small-con

Is the greasy haired, sweaty, smelly dude peddling his junk at HayDays gonna support your local club when you are having a fundraiser?

Will he be there to service your sled? or sell you parts?

Fu(k til Friday people, sometimes I swear we are hell bent on making sure our local dealer doesn't make a profit!

You never buy anything privately? I must have missed something here, who was bashing dealers?

Hay Days Junk

The trend at Hay Days old site and the new "improved" site has been more junk year after year - most now not even snowmobile related. Not saying if this is good or bad, but I would recommend having a real good understanding of what you are looking at before you buy something there - lots of junk! I'm always amazed what people hold on to...

there is alot great deals and great sleds for sale at haydays....I have sold every sled I ever owned there........have bought many many sleds there....if you have no clue how to look a sled over then maybe you should goto local dealer.......Check....no way....i sold sled there 4 years ago the guy asked me to take a check...nope....I can bring sled home u can get it then.....he was from canada.....he found the cash before i left to go home sun.......and he got a break cuz it was cash..........to just say all the sleds are junk at haydays is just plain stupid......there alot dealers who have their overstock there!!!country cat gives the best deals at Haydays.....ther sat on the stuff all winter and now ready to move it....

I dont think I would ever buy a sled up there. I have a hard time trusting the parts I am buying. You really have to be careful. I swear every year there is more and more un snowmobile realated junk.

Sure I have, & I want to see my dollars go as far possible.
Perhaps I'm a hipocrite since I have sold my last 3 sleds privately, but they were all picked up at my home so the buyer knows where to come if something wasn't right. BTW, they were all happy buyers after owning the sleds.

That being said, I want everyone to remember everything that legitimate dealers do for our sport & local communities.
I've seen sleds at Haydays priced within $500 of what many dealers would actually take for similar sled.
I am only trying to illustrate that those extra $500 is very well spent when buying from a reputable dealer rather than someone you've never met & will NOT be there after the sale.
