Have you seen this? Another organization wanting to limit sled access.

Crap, Smart Wool supports them. I love my socks, but I guess I will have to find something different to wear.

They just do not get it. There is more polution from cars, etc... in the summer than snowmobiles will ever produce and if there is a fire, even a small one, there is more polution than from snowmobiles. But it is amazing how many dumb, I mean dumb, people there are out there and if you bombard them enough with this, they will believe it because they have not an ounce of common sense. It is kind of like people that think hamburger just comes from the store, they have not a clue that we slaughter cows for the meat.

What happened to natural selection? I know I would survive it, would you?

ya those people are a-holes but to be truthful i dont give a **** if i get to ride in yellowstone.

ya but it is one more RIGHT your loosing!!!I feel the need to go and do the park as I feel someday SOON we wont have that RIGHT!!and I hate to miss something like that..BUT I SURE HATE TRAILS...:cool:

There was a blerb on the news in Oregon the other day talking about how a dog has more of a carbon footprint and puts out more methane than an suv. JUst goes to show that it doesnt matter what we do they are going to skew the facts to screw us..

And that is the problem.. The enviros are fanatical and want to take it all away. Too many sportsman have the mentality (common sense) that if it doesnt effect me then I dont want to fight it.. Fellas and ladies if WE dont get fanatical they are going to peice by peice take it all away from us. If you dont believe me just keep sitting back and watching it happen before your eyes. And one day you will wake up and it will all be gone. Guns, hunting, fishing, snowmobiles, four wheelers, access to national lands yup they are going to take it all away if we dont do something..

This group is all over making waves. This organization has been growing for awhile now. They've been opening up new offices and are actively attacking snowmobiling all over the West. They are definitely a group to watch out for, as they have some big money behind them to file the bogus lawsuits (see all of the sponsors), and they do file them. :face-icon-small-dis

One of their Advisory counsel used to be a member on here, and take info/posts/pics from here. I'm pretty sure she's still here, just signed on differently (or not at all and just using guest status) and monitoring this site.

they are better organized than us and in a fight will kick our butts... I noted the different companies that support them.. and fired off a quick and polite letter explaining I won't do business with them...

Quite a few affiliates. I'd like to ride where they are going, looks really sweet snow to chase em around in. Interesting how a group can do this damage, looks well organized. Signed up for the newsletter so as to keep up to speed on the negativity.

ya those people are a-holes but to be truthful i dont give a **** if i get to ride in yellowstone.

If they were able to close down Yellowstone to snowmobiles they would only move up the road to another spot and THAT may be your favorite spot to ride. We must fight them on every little or big land closure they bring to the table. Me personally I could care less about Yellowstone also but they don't need to know that.

I don't understand those fools. Why would you rather close down Yellowstone to sleds before you close it down to vehicles?
( Money )
Summer traffic is way more harsh on the land and animals then snowmobiles.

Isnt Yellowstone due for another Volcanic eruption anyway?

i totally agree, who wants to go on a guided tour riding the latest 4 stroke turd. it is a right and i say never give any of them up, cause they don't give them back. but if there were one to loose this one wouldn't hurt too bad. i guess it keeps the greenies busy, so we should keep acting like its worth something to us so it keeps them away from areas you can still REALLY ride;)

well last night I did a little research of their site and what i found made my hair stand up!!

seems that the probe I bought at Hay Days and the same probe I just talked 3 of my friends to buy are supporters of these clowns!!BLACK DIAMOND!!I got it from a supporter of THIS SITE!!also ,looks like MAMMUT Beacons also support these guys???

so IF we are going to do THE RIGHT THING maybe we better start by cleaning our own house first!!!!

not sure if the company knows they are selling a product to snowmobilers that spends there money to close land TO SNOWMOBILERS..so what would you do? send them an email?

Crappy part is that Mammut and Black Diamond do make some of th best AVY gear available. I personally have sought out other brands that don't (at this time I haven't found them to have done it anyway) support these clowns. BCA and Vollie, however I'm betting that there has been some support at some point as the skier market is much larger than the snowmobile market and our AVY equipment by and large is the same.

Much like Smartwool's socks, I have 3 pair but they were free promo items when I used to work for Gander Mountain. Would I buy from them knowing that they support these clowns, NO. Great product but I've moved from reccomending them to reccomending Under Armour, but it's only a matter of time with this retarded going green movement that nearly every company in the outdoors industry adds some support somewhere down the line to these loonatics.

this is good info and it's good that people don't want to deal with companies that donate to Wilderness causes.

Here's a conundrum though....I can't remember the group but among the companies donating to the group were people like Nike and here's the big one....GORE-TEX.

That's a big one if the company that gives the gore-tex for Klim is donating to Wilderness groups. Are you willing to give up being dry to make your stand?

My point is, in todays market I think it is very hard for us as consumers to make a hard definite line in the sand and stand on it with our support of various companies and products.

I replied to their "report a wilderness experience". I talked about how i spent a couple of thousand while sledding in Montana last year as a tourist.

They asked if you encountered snowmobilers while on your wilderness experience and I said - yes, 5 of them. They seemed nice

Not sure if this was the feedback they are looking for.

They're in bed with some groups locally here too......and I have seen where they are trying to shut lands down locally.

One really good thing to do (as has been suggested), is to email or write to the companies that sponsor this group. If they hear from enough of us, maybe they might start to consider their choice a bit more carefully. As it is, they are only hearing from the one side, and thus that's why they are so generous with their money to this group.

It kills me, that MOST of the back country/big mountain skiiers are pro sledding, since they use em to get into areas and will play on the sleds too, not just transportation. I've skiied with 30 plus guys that love sleds and don't want them banned, just aren't informed about the battles that are waged on sledders. If you don't believe me you can get a small taste of the skiiers that are for sleds in the new warren miller movie.(Even though I'm sure it ticked off a bunch of greenies when they showed em cuting a small tree that they had stuck a sled in) I believe this is One of the reasons the extremeists are way more effective at getting support and orginized. Funded to the hilt helps also.(Just like the companies that support these movements that do truely make awesome and top of the line stuff)

We aren't able to battle the misinformation to the general public, like the extremeists are able to put it out there.

Anybody remember which issue?

A month or two ago I read an article about snowmobiles in Yellowstone. It stated the facts about how many snowmobiles enter the park compared to vehicles in the summer. The number of other vehicles compared to snowmobiles was HUGE!!! Snowmobiles account for something like <1% or something like that. I can't remember if it was in SnoWest, Mod-Stock, SnowGoer, etc. The information in that article seems like great statistics for our side of the battle. It explained how snowmobiles are hardly even worth considering for someone concerned with pollution and other disturbances to Yellowstone. If anyone else read the article, I'd like to know which issue it was in. It had some great stats that would be nice to show some of those environmentalist groups.
