have stock 06 rmk 900, Need Help

I have a completely stock 06 rmk 900 with a 151 track. I have about 1000 bucks to put into it but need help on deciding what would be most beneficial. I hear good things about the fire n ice air box kit. I also want to get rid of the huge can suitcase because its so big and heavy. I like the better boards but do they have a model that will fit my sled?

First thing make sure your clutching is right. Look at back of secondary and if the second number is 38 then you need to get a different helix or you will be eating belts, breaking motor mounts, and possibly damaging your crank.

Have your primary clutch Balanced. This is an absolute must on the 900!!!!

If you only have 1000 to spend I would put the airbox on hold and just open up your stock box and take out the baffles.

If you don't have venting around your clutches buy vents. Also buy intake vents, you will need these with your stock airbox or the fire and ice. You can not have to many vents on the 900.

Make sure you have ice scratchers on the rails to keep it cool when you have to ride the trails.

Buy an aftermarket exhaust can and get rid of the factory lead anchor. CPI is good but very loud. SLP's cans crack on the 900. There are others that or good and not as loud as the CPI. The Dynoport one looks like it might be good, it has extra bracing welded on the inlet pipe.

Make sure you are running the right belts. Polaris belt ending in 11115 is the most indestructible. DO NOT RUN A CHEEP BELT ON THIS SLED!!!!

If you are using the stock suspension make sure to get the heavier front track spring if you do not have it already.

check your intake boots for cracking and replace them if you have cracks.

If at all possible pull motor and check for broken motormounts. install 06 mounts of compfusion mounts.

change fuel filter and oil filter and make sure to bleed oiler system.

Two inch to four inch bar riser will help and not cost you much.

Rider select delete if you are actually taking this thing back in the mountains.

Yes they make better boards for your sled, I have them on mine and they are worth every penny get them.

Got any money left at this point?

Thank you!

Ha I think this should keep me busy for awhile. Thanks for the info and do your better boards actually make it wider or is it just like a new insert?

They just cut a section out of the middle of your boards and allow the snow to fall through rather than building up under your feet so that you feet slip off at just the wrong moment causing you to hit the nearest tree.:face-icon-small-ton

They also might add a little reinforcement to the tunnel.

Don't forget the radiator delete, FBF cable, and PP skis.

Have ya spent a thousand bucks yet? Better ask for another five hungee from Santa!

Yah, I thought about that but Claude is out of cables right now so he won't be able to get one. Radiators been gone so long on mine I forgot about it but that is a cheep one to do.
I don't think there is any money left at this point for PP skis. I recommend the timbersled suspension too but that is out of budget...lol

oops forgot an important one. Clean the exhaust valves and replace bellows, springs and gaskets.

Then go cheap with a good once over, tighten all bolts, adjust track tension, check throttle cable adjustment and block assy. Ck alighnment and shock settings all the little overlooked things then..................RIDE IT!!

grease everything that needs greasing with waterproof grease too.

Add to the list...SLP torque arm and torque stop. (They have a cheap radiator delete kit also.) Also replace your front bumper but you will have to keep the stock air box for one to fit. Skinz makes a good one for the money. You will break that stock bumper sooner or later because they suck.

Torque arm and torque stop should on the top of the list too, you may already have them on your sled, most do.

The stock bumper is Truly a POS. It is only held on by small screws that attach to the belly pan. If you actually try to lift the sled upward with it, you are going to break it. But if you don't have the cash left after everything else we have listed you can live without, just remember that it is not functional for getting the sled unstuck. Only lift by the ski hoops or the front A-Arms. One other thing, if you do order a Skinz bumper from SKinz it will take you 4-6 weeks to get it, mine should be here today.

I ordered the black one and had it in a week. Did you piss them off or something?

When did you order it? I ordered the black one for the older IQ front Oct 22. I called Tammy and she told me they were backed up 4 weeks on orders right now and to call her back in a few weeks and she could give me a better idea. UPS tracking says they put it on the truck at 5:49 am today to deliver it.

You took the last one in stock, damn you...lol I had to wait for the next batch. Hopefully they made a few then and can get them out faster for everyone else.

UPS just got here at 7:30 at night. I can't believe how light that bumper is. The whole box it came in with everything in it weighs less than the stock plastic bumper.:face-icon-small-hap
