Has anyone heard about the Mammut Pulse Beacon?

Wow glad I ordered that when I did ... that was a way good deal.

They even sent me the order confirmation at a total price of $388.84 shipped to my door so I'll be damned if they're gonna charge me more hahaha :)

Dogmeat you didn't get free shipping or did you opt for something else?

I guess there was free shipping but a $17.63 tax on it.

Huh maybe theyr'e shipping it from Utah or something.

Do you have tax in your state or something? My order confirmation was for $371.21 .

How many on here ordered?

I did! :D:D:D

You might still be able to get them if you call and tell them that when you google Mammut Package 371.21 - thats what it comes up at. Wouldn't it be false advertising if you see it for 371.21 but can only get it for 495?

It depends on where it shipped from and where you live. Amazon has fulfillment centers around the country. If you live in a state where they have one, by law they have to charge sales tax.

I guess now I have a pair of beacons I can practice with, heh :)

I got chance to see this beacon first hand at a beacon seminar last night. Simply amazing how quickly it will zone in on a transmitting beacon. For multiple burials I'd want one of these looking for me, you'd go crazy trying to figure out what was going on with a traditional single antenna beacon.

Got an email from Backcountry this morning that my order had shipped! :)

It'll be nice to have 3 different brands/types of beacons to do some of my own testing and comparisons.

Just got mine in the mail today!

Pack should work well enough, I was hoping to be able to mount the shovel to the outside of the pack but that doesn't work very well. Ah well ...

The shovel and probe fit in the main pack pocket, so I went ahead and put my mag-lite, gator socket thing, strobe light in there too.

I'll keep the front pocket for food items and dry socks and gloves and keep the stuff that can be wet in the main pocket where the shovel is, then just use my tunnel bag for water bottles.

I've been playing with the beacon a little bit and it appears to work well. I'm gonna go out riding tomorrow and do some practice with both beacons to learn how to use them both ....

I phoned yesterday and they gave me the 371.21 price. Just looked back to see that they had actually sold some a few days ago and no problem. Great service for sure. Thanks for posting this info, I've been looking for a beacon for too long.

Backcountry owns. I got a similar deal on Mammut package two winters ago. Good gear, full pack and shovel eveything rules. Little known fact but Backcountry will often sell you the deals after they aren't listed on the site anymore, just gotta call them. I heard that you can actually walk into the warehouse in Utah and just search their computer and if it's in stock they'll cut you a deal. Good people. For hourly deals, check their feed at:

The pack works great! Went out riding most of the day today, and the pack worked really well.

The reason I say this is, yesterday I did light squats and then sumo deadlifts in the gym, so any additional weight on my back today would be easily noticed :)

But, I rode about 6 hours today with the pack about "half" loaded ... I just had the shovel, probe, mag lite, and some of the bare essentials ... no spare gloves or food.

But, back isn't sore at all. I think the "length: of the pack and the upper and lower waist and chest straps work well.

We played around with the beacons in what little snow we had and the Barryvox works pretty well. Once we get some deeper snow I'm just gonna start spinning myself around in circles till I'm dizzy then chucking my other beacon off into a snowdrift somewhere to disoreint myself and not know where the other beacon is so I have to "start from scratch" searching and probing for it or whatever.

haha

Ive have the Mammut Pulse, its pretty nice and dumb proof. The best past is in a mulitple burrial of the same type beacons you can see who is still alive or not. You can even program it for you name to show up for the person who is searching so they know who is who.

pretty cool beacon.

Missed out on the deal but damn nice of you to let everyone know!! It's posts like this that make this site and ya'll good to hang around. And a few of you are safer!! Man deserves a few..:beer;:D:D:D

I dunno if owning a 'good' beacon necessarily makes you safer, it just increases your odds slightly of surviving an avalanche providing the people you're riding with can dig you out and give you CPR in time ...

:face-icon-small-con

Hell it makes everyone safer than those who "don't carry" And yes they are still out there,Saw them just a week ago up on Togwotee!!?! At the very least you could save a life! Even if all you had was a SHOVEL and someone told you where to dig. Yet some still refuse........?
