i want to add hids to my 09 m8 sno pro.. has anyone done this. if so what kit did you use and how well does it perform.thanks any help is apreciated:beer;:beer;:)

HID head light bulbs high intensity lights you know like what bmw cars come with super bright..its basicaly a contained welding arc inside of a bulb that requires a ballast to ignite the gas in the bulb.. no question is ever stupid..i have lots and lots of questions..

why do you say that.. hids only use 35 watts each
But it use much more to fire up.

It is not a problem to have xenon on a M series without battery.
But you need a hid kit off quality that will handle low voltage and high voltage good, because there are no battery.
If not it will just start to flicker.

In order to run HID you would need to add a battery and make a diode bridge to take the spikes out of th AC power(power off the stator) to make a DC power to maintain a constant voltage other wise like Passelat said the would flicker or not ignite. I have thought about it and made a wiring diagram just never had time to do the mod.

Here's a pic of the wiring diagram and some pics from the guy I talked to about this mod.

JTT454thanks for that info!!! much apreciated
duc848 i live in northern b.c and we need the headlights to get in to the mountains and to get out we don't waste any daylight were there for it all..

my friend did this to his xp and it keep taking out his dash gauges
it does take a bunch to fire it up i think my friend got away with putting the hid on the high beam side so when he fires the sled he would have the low beam on

will check with him when he gets back from vac

he did do alot R&D on this last two years

his light are great in a trail situation ---wow is it BRIGHT

HID Lights

You might give the guys at trail tech a call or check out there website they make HID lights for off road motorcycle BAJA racing. I am actually getting two that will run off a battery for 3-6 hours for night riding on my mountain bike that I plan to also use on my snowmobile. One will be mounted to my handlebars that is super bright but only lasts 3 hours, the other one will be mounted to my helmet and will last 6 hours. I would like to figure out how to hook the lights into the snowmobile so I don't need the batteries when riding my snowmobile.

So, when most people are spending fortunes making there aleds lighter & working hard to keep them reliable...

You want to go the other way on both bacause of LIGHTS????

WTF??? We don't even HAVE lights on our sleds.

Ok, just noticed the up north thing, I still don't think it's worth it. See if you can find some higher wattage bulbs, that would be cheap, easy to do, lighter & wouldn't cost you reliability.
