Harts Pass

Any one gone to Harts Pass lately? Would like to ride Saturday or Sunday.

Was there last saturday. Road plowed to cache creek. First quarter mile will probably have a few bare spots this coming weekend. Lots of snow back at Hart's Pass. Was dissapointed with the hero snow/cloudy weather/drizzly afternoon. Sunday was probably better with the sun..

I gotta admit, driving through deadhorse on fresh-loose gravel made me a bit more queezy than ever before. Perhaps my wife's gasping for air and pretending to stand on the pax side break had me freakin'. I've never met another vehicle half way thru deadhorse - hope I never do. Have come close a few times, but was able to stop prior to the roads narrowing while the other vehicle came uphill.

Also tried to get to Sweetgrass and McLoud via Goat Creek. A short 60-70 yard section of the road was impassable and then at least a mile of gravel afterwards. Tried going in from the eight mile side but there was a tree across the raod...

Try deadhorse with 4" of snow, coming back down the mountain. Your wife would have left you for sure!

My father did a lot of surveying on that road in the 60's, one time coming down they met a vw bug stopped in the middle of deadhorse. They found a guy completely locked up from fear and frozen behind the wheel, white as a sheet. They had to wrestle him out, and moved him to the passenger side. Than dads smart *** buddy turned the little car around right there on the cut and drove it down!
