Harts Pass

Went to Harts pass today. The snotel doesn't lie, there was about 18-20" of snow. Some rocks, but I'd say worth the drive to get in the first ride of the season in:D

Junk cell phone pics but you get the idea.

Rode up to the fire tower on slate peak and all over. Good day!

I NEED DIRECTIONS!!!
eric what are you doing this sat?

Eric who??

I'm digging ditches in Pine Loc Sun, a little draiage issue!! It looks like it's going to snow at harts but you need around 40 to be much fun for the gas $$ getting there. We will be at the Winthrop Cabin Thanksgiving weekend if you want to ride and if theres some more snow. PM me.

Where did you unload? How bad were the rocks?

We drove probably 8 miles up 5400 past the yellowjacket snopark. DO NOT TAKE A TRAILER up there right now, sled deck only. The rocks were not to bad had to just pick your way around them and watch where you were going. I thought it was worth it, got the first ride in didn't hurt my sled so it was all good. Hwy 20 is still open so the drive isn't as bad as going around. Just turn north into Mazama off hwy 20 take left at the Tee go up lost river rd (which turns into fsr 5400) until you hit enough snow to unload!

That's classified information......at least untill the hwy closes;)

Has anyone gone up to harts lately? A guy on youtube told me there was people riding up there, before this I never heard of harts pass. My dad and I were almost leaning towards going to Mtbaker or idaho just to snowmobile. Im in the chelan area and am very willing to make the trip just to ride. All in all, how is it up there now? Wonderground.com told me there was about 25" up there on december 8th.

Last Thur - see this thread: http://snowest.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1041781&postcount=24

BTW, single axle snowmobile trailers ARE ALLOWED past Deadhorse Point until 12/30. See the little sign, below the big sign which says "no trailers". It says there is an exception for "single axle snomobile trailers".

However, unless you are really confident in your backing skills, DHP is not a place to be caught towing a trailer.
