HARTS PASS CONDITIONS?

very dangerous, super bad buried layer, talked with heli ski and they are limiting flights due to it.

cpatts2000- So that mean the conditions are good, deep?

I guess I should have been more specific with my question. How deep and fun is the snow right now?

A buried layer is far from saying things are good, and deep. Generally dangerous and not necessarily deep should be the assumption.

cpatts is talking about a buried surface hoar layer that is creating some dangerous conditions up there. This layer was seriously in play a few weeks ago during all the major avi's down here.... I haven't spoken with the folks up there in a week or so though (same as cpatts, the NCH folks).

From what I've heard, the skiing is decent, you just have to lower your tolerance for risk and be smart about the slopes you choose to avoid trouble. I usually figure that if the skiing is ok, the sledding is good. If I hear from the folks up north about conditions this week I will update.

I will clarify, dangerous means it is not a good idea to go to harts at this point. I would pick another area with low angle terrain. Most of the low level stuff around here has gotten warm and then frozen, so it is hardpack at this point.

Cool, thanks!

Just for my info- Is Harts pretty much all steeper terrain?
