Hard starting t-975

Well i finally got the beast out on the snow this weekend. After a face lift. Sled worked great, but hard to start. Stone cold ( first in the am.) its a hard pull but will fire up in 5-6 pulls but have to have the throttle cracked. Hot starts 1-2 pulls easley again with the throttle cracked. Let it cool for 10- 15 mins. and almost no way to start it. fuel presure comes up to about 30psi when cranking. It acts like you just can't pull the rope hard or fat enough, It will start if you lucky. Any help would be great! Gary

A few posts down is a thread on a RMK that bogs and backfires, try going thru those procedure's first, prime the pump and check the pressure first though.
Let us know what happens.
Good Luck

Try turning the fuel pressure up. You should have 40- 45 psi at idle.

gary..

have you set the TPS recently?

if you have to crack the throttle, you might have the plates in the throttle bodies closed too much...or you could have lost the spring the keeps the tension between the plates? or even the set screw?...worth a look at least.

what about a bad capacitor? have you tested that recently?

when you pull the pull cord, it charges the capacitor and inturn supplies power to the fuel pump to pump fuel...when you ride the sled, it charges the cap and therefore its easier to start when warm...

just some thoughts..

send me some pics of the sled when you get time, would love to see it...

I'm surprised Sean didn't tell you to have your buddy pull on it. That way when the start handle stays in your hand, you can have your other buddy start it off the clutch.
