Handle bar riser on old sled

Ok I am new to the sport and have an old sled. I have a 95 AC EXT pow spec. I think a set a handle bar risers would be nice to have so i can stand up. Right now I feel all bent over. I don't know what I need or if I have to extend cables. Of course this sled is only worth maybe a 1000 dollars so I'm struggling to spend alot of money on it. What and where do I need to go to get the handle bars up high enough to stand. Any help would be great.

Thanks

I would start with looking at your sled and see how much slack you can get out of your throttle and brake lines and still be able to run them properly. I would think you wouldn't be able to get much more than a couple inches. Then just buy whatever size riser block you think you can fit, pull off your handlebars, put the block in between, and put the handlebars back on with the longer bolts that should come with the riser block. A small riser block shouldn't cost very much, and should be able to be found locally or on eBay.

Raising the bars makes a big difference in my opinion. I have a 97 Summit with 6" riser and still feel like I could go a couple more inches.

I had a 93 580 EXT a few years ago, I was able to get two inches of rise with no problem. I just purchased some longer bolts and sandwiched two one inch thick pieces of teflon between the steering post top and the clamps, cost about 3 bucks for the bolts.

On my 96 EXT'S I was able to go 2" and use aftermarket bars with more of a rise. If you want to you can have the 2"block and the 2 sets of bars with hooks and strap on one set, and the other set has hooks and solid welded mtn bar, just pay for shipping. Will get you pics if you are interested. Froggy.

I put a 3 inch on my neighbors EXT, I think it’s a 93. Had to reroute some stuff but it worked fine.

Risers?

I have a used 2" AMP in the swapmeet, with pics, under "Bars and risers". I think my ad is pretty old I'll make someone a good deal on it!

I had that same sled 2 years ago. You can take the hoop that thesteering post is bolted to out. There will be a bracket that the steering post runs through that is bolted to the bottom of the hoop.Remove the hoop and replace it with the steering post anb bracket on top of the hoop. Then you will have to notch your hood with a air dremall. Then I put a pair of the o5 mtn cat bars on it. Great rider forward set up.

I put a 2" riser on my '94 EXT without any problems. If I remember correctly (it was a while ago), I could NOT do a 3" without extending the cables.
