Handle Bar Riser Help

Just bought a 2012 std RMK. The threads ive encountered talked about pro taper bar heights. Going with a 2 inch, but who makes a good product for the std rmk bars?

Does anyone know if you can just toss a set of pro tapers in the mounts for the std bars? That would give some rise and probably be stronger but idk if the cables would reach or if it may be too high?

Dude, did you not watch the schooled videos, risers are outlawed by the real mountain riders...

Just kidding ya, I'm 6'4" and put a 2" riser on my pro. It's easy for the shorter guys to say you don't need a riser, but for us taller fellas its more comfy with the bars a tad higher.

So basically what I'm saying is I am of no help to answer your question.

Take the time to get used to them low and you will be miles ahead... Risers are a thing of the past. As you can see I'm no help either but seriously there are way better places to spend your money, like candy bars for your lunch pack or beer. :face-icon-small-ton

The standard comes factory with a 3.75" that's what my dads 11' has and that is what my 08 rmk had I thought that was a little low for me because I like to stand....a lot. At the end of the day my lower back would start to ache, after going to a taller riser where I didn't have to bend over to keep my hands on the bars my back thanked me. I am only 5'10 too, personal preference but I think if you are more comfortable in the sled because of the control hight I think you will be a better rider. I know burandt and rassmussen say no riser is better but you have to do what is most comfortable for you.

I measured the height of the bars from the running boards on both my 2011 RMK and the 08 Dragon I had. The 2011 bars were within 1/4" of the Dragon bars, stock. The 2011 comes with a 3 3/4" riser, the Dragon riser was 5 1/4" so a guy could just get the Polaris 5 1/4" riser.

Exactlly. The 5 1/4 inch riser is a standard Poo part, simple change, cables still fit, etc. Ran it on my last sled, no issues at all. I had one I would have given you, but I just gave it to someone else. . . . timing is everything, isn't it? :face-icon-small-hap

I sure wish we could get Brett to talk crap about 'best oil threads' or NMFH's and then we'd finally see everyone shun them too !!

RSI has bars that will sit right on your stock riser that replicate the pro taper bar set up

i've run an isovibe on my sled for the last 5 years. will never run without one now. it gives either a 1.5 or 2.5 inch rise depending on which way you install.
it is used by motorcross riders and gives the bar an adjustable amount of give fore/aft and left/right. i know that sounds weird, but it is the schnizz on wooped trails and when you happen to get surprised backsiding a bump in flat light, etc.. i don't even notice it when i ride, except at the end of the day.....no sore shoulders (had both shoulders repaired) they are 89.95 awesome product. below is the link....

PM me if you have any questions..

No, the steering post mount on the RMK Pro is not the same as the standard RMK. Now, there certainly may be some mounts that can make this happen??

If you must use a riser, the stock Polaris riser is one of your best options.

Polaris

I used the riser from the dealer on my 10 rmk, felt like i needed a few inches so I added it. It was a good product, easy to install. After a few rides I put everything back, I found out I liked the lower center of gravity in tight spots I could pull the sled better from a lower position. It was not so much I could not ride it but felt more comfortable with the bars lower.

I'm 6'6" and thought they needed to go down for very aggressive back country riding, on the trail not so much, but on a steep sidehill, to tall and makes it hard to balance the machine.

I'm not much help either, just think some should try it with a different understanding of it first. Once I explained it to friends of the balance they all went lower and finally realized the advantage.

Couple Questions:
does anyone have any close up pics of the standard RMK bars they could plz post for me?

Pro Tapers on the Standard RMK:
so these wont fit why? steering post mount different? where? the bottom mount?
its not as simple as mounting the new Pro Tapers without the standard RMK riser?
