hand warmers

I bought mine from klr650.com for $24.95 with a Hi / Lo switch included.
Now's heres the trick; you "Must" put Heat Shrink Tubing (you can buy from KLR650.com) over your Left handle bar to "Insulate" it from the Aluminum bar or else the bar will "suck" too much heat from the heater and burn it out.

- The right side is ok because of your plastic throttle sleeve is off the bar itself and is thus insulated.

-In addition the second problem is getting your Stock grip over the heat shrink and heater element on the left side. It can be done but the easier way is too buy to "Right" side grips (they are larger because of the throttle sleeve) and use it. sometimes you cannot buy just too right side grips and thus you have to buy two sets of grips and have two extra left grips leftover...

Hope this helps.

gman,

Hand warmers

I have been installing hand warmers on bikes for years and all i ever do is wrap the warmers with electrical tape and fill my grips with gas and dump out excess. The grips will slide over like butter and melt onto the tape and are more secure then and grip glue ive tried. Wait about 5mins and your done.

Hope that helps

Handwarmers

They will break off your right their, but everything breaks lol. I have a set with two seasons of riding on them with a grip change that are still working fine. Just make sure you leave slack on the wires and DONT wire tie them close to the throttle.

yeah I have had to repair my throttle side wires a few times now. Even when I leave slack they eventually fatigue and break.

Any other thoughts on the heated grips. Is this the best way to go .Buy the wrap style .Has anyone been able to get the smaller grip over the wrap.Hate to have to buy 2 pairs of grips for each machine.
Does everyone do it with the heat shrink on left bar,

I also found these moose heated grips but don't know how good the grip is and we will wear out grips on the hawk faster then a sled and with these you can't just install new grip

Any suggestions on some good grips if I go that way
