Just some items to consider.

1. Did ending the draft in 1973 help or hurt?

2. Was going off the gold standard in late 1973 a mistake?

3. Was a second mortgage or heloc ever a good financial decision?

4. Am I the only one that misses making 10% or more on passbook savings?

5. At the end of Carter 1980 we were a creditor nation, by the end of Reagan we were a debtor nation and remain so today. Good or bad?

Curious on other SW members opinions.

Ride safe and have fun.

After Clinton I think we were a creditor nation also.I believe it is like a big roller coaster ride and the highs and lows are getting bigger.

There hasn't been any really good windowpane produced since the early 70's.

No, still owed other nations and had debt, but had a surplus instead of a defecit. I wonder where that went?:face-icon-small-con

Honestly, I think that we need to pay this Sh*t down, and yeah its gonna hurt our economy, but isn't that what we want? Less government spending and involvement? We can't have the benefits of gov't spending without the pain it brings later when we have to pay it back. Which is why we should reduce the amount of government intervention in the economy (The only ones i agreed with was the bailout of GMC n such as well as the loans to the banks).

I just can't believe the people who are mad that companies that live on defense contracts to get by might go bankrupt without them. If they are not smart enough to switch to commercial products its not the governments fault.
