went to pick it up on thursday night and decided to try it tonight with the girlfriend. Brand new pistons spark plugs and so on... 150$ (still warranty thanks god!!!) .

I can't keep you waiting much longer.....

15 miles!!!!!!! YESSS SIR talking about reliability!!!:face-icon-small-hap

Let's see, it burnt down and you didn't change anything, and are now suprised that it happened again?

Insanity is described as trying the exact same thing expecting to find a different result.

Your warranty will continue to replace broken parts from an existing and ongoing problem.

I love these posts, just slap a top end on it, top ends down burn down because of pistons, they burn down because there is a problem. put another top end on it and go another 15 miles good luck

I don't get why you're dissing francois. This is not his fault! Why should it be up to him to change something? All you people who are trying to fix it on your own aren't doing anyone else any favors. It appears the problem is still there and it is up to Polaris to fix it properly. It's bad enough that he is without a sled to ride while it's in the shop.

I know if mine goes down I would be finding out why, there is a problem with the ones that are going down, if the dealer just puts on a top end it will happen again and probably right away. I personally think it is hard to find a good dealer. they are few and far between. most of them have guys that have no clue about sleds

Wow...lack of winter has the natives restless I guess. Let's get back to reality.

First off, you guys are assuming this possible motor going down (we don't even know the symptoms, just it went down) is so vague, everyone is assuming way too much with the limited info in the first post.

How do we know, if it did really go down, that it hasn't went down for a completely different reason than the first time? 15 mile engine failures are "usually" a result of poor workmanship or defective parts.

Nobody bothered to ask the original poster how far did the first motor or update last? Nobody bothered to ask for more infrormation before blasting the guy.

Another HUGE thing to remember guys. Manufactuer's do NOT PAY the dealers' techs to spend the time often necessary to "find out" the why in these situations. Manufactuers would go broke from dishonest techs padding warranty time. Warranty time often doesn't even pay enough to cover the actual time spent.

Like it or not, that's the way it is!

So....who should donate and pay for the time? Should the dealership be responsible for spending countless hours trying to figure out why something failed? Should the dealership call the customer and ask the customer to pay for the time? How would you like to be that person at the dealership, asking a customer to pay diag time when customer has a warranty? How would you like to be that customer?

It would sure be nice before you guys go blasting the original poster and others that have had issues, that you could somehow wave your magic wonds and make the issues of the those affected by the 800 CFI go away. We need to understand that some are having issues and should instead be tryting to help them rahter than blast them.

Thanks Dave!
I guess I should have put more detail in my first post lol!

As I said in numerous other posts, my sled had run flawless for the first 1500miles. I went turbo at the begging of the season but after 500miles on it and because for a reason I ignored at that time it was not pulling like it should be,I sold the turbo kit and went back to stock. Had it reflash with the april map and everything looked find for the following 4 rides. On my 5th ride I was crusing on the trail with the girlfriend and it burned down.

Dealer told me it was one of my reedvalve petal who broke off and went in the engine. At the same time the fuel pump died so that also was change. Under warranty so I was very lucky on this one!

Now, 15miles on this new engine, I would like to remember to all of you that til this day my dragon had never let me down! Towed summits down the trail, was turbo, all of that without the pc5 which from what I could see is not as perfect as it seemed because most of you guys are still burning engines with it!!, anyway, 15 miles on the engine, I was once again riding on a freshly groom trail got to a nice long strech of trail so try to open it but nothing. Cut off at 5300-5800rpm and continously flashing check engine light!!

It did not sound like it was broken or anything so I assumed it was the protection mode or a foul plug. Beeing far away from home I decided to press and make it to my parents place. Got there safely and let the sled sleep outside for the night.

Started it this morning to bring it to the dealer and to my surprise it missed a couple beat at first but then pulled alright. SO, the engine is okay (i hope), but the sled is at the dealer anyway to find out why the check engine came on.

Im sorry I didnot make it clearer at first but honestly, I bought this sled new, and I really don't see why I would be getting my hand dirty on it. I paid for a warranty and that is why. Once someone proove me a pc5 is THE real deal I will buy one. Til then the dealer polaris is going to keep changing pistons (remember only pistons 5 and 6 since new counting the update!!!)

All that to say, don't judge others too quickly, it is in no way my fault if a brand new sled is ****ty and polaris should be blamed not me for not spending 300$ on a fuel controller!

P.S. Skibreeze, first one to thrown the stone but also first one to go and buy and etec aren't you? Nothing saved yours so why should something saves mine lol?? Just saying nothing against you man!:face-icon-small-con

So if I understand you correctly your engine didn't blow after 15 miles it just ran bad. And when you brought it to the dealer it ran good again. If I were you I would not bring it to the dealer. Thsi time they might realise that you used to have a turbo on it and bill you for the last motor that they warrantied.

its already at the dealer and I doubt the would charge me for something a deal that is already completed. Plus, they would have to prove that when I first bring the sled to them it was already like that and that the modification did not happen between the first time and this time so Im not too worried.

francois-sorry to hear about your troubles-I wondering if they cleaned out the bottomend after your rebuild? let us know if they find what caused it. One other thing I know a lot of these sleds (D8) go down and people never find the smoking gun problem! good luck

so you didn't tell the dealer you took it to that you had it turbo'd? That seems more than a little dishonest to me and going that long without replacing stuff obviously your going to have probelms

well let me see, im curious to see how many guys on here have an slp pipe that they takeoff before they go at the dealer...

replacing stuff?? the sled doesnt even have 3000 miles. I had a venture 480 1994 with 30 000km with original engine, carburator, and was on its second strap!!! Vmax 600 1995 with 22 000km with original pistons and crank, pantera 580 1995 with 18 000km with original engine, vmax 4 26 000km with nothing but original pistons, gasket, crank, 2003 rx-1 15 000km with nothing done to it but oil change, of all of them the pilaris was the newest and most expensive one and you are telling me I can not go thru one season without changing stuff other than bearings on the wheel kits and strap?????That is crazy!!If you guys think it is normal for a 15k$ sled to change fuel filter, injectors, throttle body boots, reed valve gasket every season then I feel sorry for you....and I know performance is expensive but don't think I went easy on all of my previous sled, they were still having it hard, even harder than this one and by far. Pretty much always WOT and let me tell you here it's pretty much always minus 20 celcius and lower and we have a lot of trails and field to test the engines.
