Is this a good mod to do to let heat out from under the hood on a M series sled since heat rises and which side panel vents is everyone running..:noidea:newbie to this kind of sled

RK Tech

I looked it up and RK Tech has what they call a gauge hood lift kit to do what you are looking to get done, also can relocate the gauge with kit also, added venting for the hot air.

PM MadSigntist... he has a sweet and rather inexpensive gauge lifter. Love mine. I'm running Mo-Flow vents on my M. Had them on my Yammie as well and loved them. I'm running side vents, clutch vent and gauge vents along with my gauge lifter.

X2 mad scientist. Great product. Also running xxx mod rod hood vents. Side vents running the skinz gill vents. They are supposed to draw air out with design. Also a lot tougher than other vents

Gauge vents are from who they look good.....

Madfab designs.
pm Madsigntist and get one of his. It is High quality powder coated aluminum. The fit and finish is top notch.

I have side panel vents and a vent on top where the hood is rounded just above the gauge.

With the oem can, the heat would really come out of the top vent. With a SLP can, there is a noticeable decrease in the heat coming out as evidenced by the marginal defogging of goggles (the top vent works good for defogging goggles but when I had the oem can on it worked great).

I have the polished aluminum side vents. Would not buy polished again and snow/ice sticks to it. Comes off easily with a tap on each side panel. Not sure how the powder coated versions work but the ABS plastic ones would not have that problem.

I thought about adding the vents to the right and left of the guage but with the stock airbox in place I didn't think I'd gain much flow because the box sits close in those spots.
