Groomers Meetings ( when do they start? )

This year I want to be more active in knowing what is going on with our grooming dollars to try to keep what happened last season from happening this season also. I want to attend meetings, any info would be great.

Thanks

Did'nt you know--they started grooming 1 month ago--and they will stop in March---as Per the state!!

LOL

Just kidding--but that is what it seemed like last year.

with fuel costs coming down hopefully they wont run out of money this year

Not to rain on anyone's parade, BUT, two weeks ago there was an article in the Cle Elum paper that basically said this:

So far this year, snowmobile registrations are down quite a bit from years past. The grooming budget has already been cut. It was estimated that Tim and Don would groom 175 less hours in the Salmon La Sac, Cooper Lk, French Cabin areas and would groom 100 less hours on the Cle Elum Ridge, Taneum side of I-90. More hours could be cut if fuel prices start to rise again.....Stated grooming could end in Feb. this coming season.

Maybe someone here can confirm, this is just what the article said!

Well for sure we will have less grooming this year, All the grooming programs got about the same money as the last few years, only problem is they also got hourly raises to compensate for fuel, insurance, cost of living increases ect. Basically if they groom according to a good , well thought out schedule they can make it the entire season. We just wont have the frequency we've had in the past, They just need to figure out how to cut about 2 weeks worth of grooming thru out the season, a day or 2 here and there. Just depends on how much snow we get ect. Should be an interesting year. One thing for sure folks, wether you like it or not, where you believe it or not, we need to desperately raise our snowmobile license fee's, thats the only way to put more money in our program. I've been involved in the grooming stuff for a long long time. I've heard all the complaints about the groomers, some legitamate, some totaly false and misleading. What we buy today cost a whole lot less 5 years ago, nobody can deny that. It's the cold hard facts. Our program stands alone, we get no money from the state other than our fuel tax money and a large portion of our sled registrations. We operate on basically the same money we have been gettng for years, it just doesnt go as far anymore. Ok, enough, I'll get off my soap box. I love this sport and the people in it. That why I keep working on it. think snow ,,,dan

What do you think it would take for say dollar amount added to each sled liscensed to cover the cost for more regular grooming around here.

We talking 3-5 bucks per sled or would it have to be more, seriously curious.

Not bashing at all.

Because we do need better grooming support in this state, and I am ready to start passing a hat around and help out with this cause.

There you go Dan, Rob will pass his hat around and have you seen the size of his melon?!!:D
It would take some serious $$$$ to fill that hat!

(Just kidding Rob...Don't kill me)

I agree, It's time to raise the yearly fee ONLY if all the extra funding goes directly to grooming and is accounted for publicly.

Let's say an extra $20?
I'd pay it for consistant grooming into the fun areas.
And I mean groomed for the ride on Saturday morning, not Thursday night:rolleyes:

OR..........

Fordman could quit screwin around in Egypt etc.., and use his time wisely. Maybe spend some time scouting/ making a secret path up to Gallagher/ Ann/ Van Epps. And he could take that Graveler fella with him. More time in the woods and less time on the puter whining about the XPs would do him good.

How bout Fordy, insteading of taking pricey get-a-ways to Egypt he could buy a groomer and make gravy earn his keep by doing the grooming.....

Kind of like a "Partnership":heart::D

I'll be there

I will be ther for sure, I think we need to get some myths, and questions anwsered about the grooming and plowing this year.
Oh and in my opinion dealing with the state budget for grooming I personanlly think we should raise the lic fee to 50 per sled. Sounds like a lot but think of it. Been skiing to crystal or stevens lately, It cost more than that for ONE day. $45 to $50 per sled would put back them money we've lost due to inflattion and such. And that includes your snopark permit.
just my opinion.
