Greenwater?

Normal snopark...the matterhorn is always nasty. Not much off trail yet, lacking snow compared to other areas.

Actually - conditions today were the best in years - snow and road. Dry compact snow on by-pass which makes for great traction. Could not believe all of the vehicles when we came down a the end of the day - 50+ vehicles.
2+ feet of fresh dry powder - made for an awesome day.

We've only ridden and camped that area during the summer, so we're some what familiar with the area.

Curious if you can park below this "Matterhorn" area and ride up from there?

Im not so sure I can remember where this spot is, but I dont think Im quite willing to attempt to sacrifice my truck/trailer just for a day of sledding! :frown:

I remember seeing lots of rigs parked way down on the road during the poker runs in years past, with folks riding back and forth via the road to get to and from their rigs, but Ive never participated in one up there yet.

Do they only allow that for sancioned events?

Also, can you ride on the Natches Trail itself since it should have enough snow cover on it? I see people talking about riding in Government Meadows which I seem to remember is down the trail somewhat.

Thanks!

From what I have heard -" Supposedly " - if the road is plowed to the end of the pavement you have to drive to that sno-park. They will, and have been barracading the lower gravel pit so you can't park there. They do not want any dual-use on the road now. They are going to fine you again, supposedly, if you are parked anywhere but where they've designated. This is what the groomer told us a couple of weeks ago, the exact same morning the Forest Service guy told my buddy he could park before the by-pass as the road was a sheet of ice. Typical government - left hand does not know what the right hand is doing. The by-pass is not a big deal - if it's questionable , chain-up. About 75% of us know when to , the other 25%, not so much !!

Naches Trail - no problem , plenty of snow. The trail skirts the cabin and Government Meadows.

Have fun!

was there yesterday and going tommorrow. The area is scheduled to be groomed tonight.

It needs it it was pretty bumpy on the way out last night.

all the traffic took its toll.

Did Whistling Jacks and everything was fine except for a few spots on ice hill. The snow had been tracked clean leaving a couple of bare icy spots.

Other than that great easy trip.

STAFFORDDIRT.going to take a look today.tracks over the bank onto the first road.

Seems like we need some more logging up there. Alot of the good clear cuts are growing over. There still some good areas to ride if you know where to look, though.

logged up there this summer.look, travel, explore,no secrets are free...hahaha

I will not confirm this but, if you look and explore I think there is some new POW to destroy. We went up last Thursday only 3 rigs in the park in the morning 50 plus when we returned at dark. Never hit any tracks till we headed out and found plenty of over the hood POW.

Ya - that's when we went up - I think we were number 5 or 6 in the parking , and could not believe the vehicles when we camp out as we saw very few sleds up there.
